Our client is a New York-based fractional CFO and strategic finance consultancy supporting growth-stage CPG and consumer brands. Founded by a former investor, operator, and venture capital professional, the business partners closely with founders and leadership teams to provide strategic finance support, financial modeling, forecasting, operational analytics, and growth planning. The consultancy operates as a high-impact strategic partner rather than a traditional accounting firm, helping businesses navigate complex financial decisions while scaling sustainably. With client demand continuing to grow, the founder is now looking to bring on a highly analytical finance professional to expand delivery capacity and support the next phase of growth.

About the Role:
This is not a traditional corporate finance role. We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Financial Analyst who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and enjoys solving complex business problems. You will work directly alongside the founder across multiple client engagements, supporting financial modeling, dashboarding, forecasting, operational analysis, and strategic finance initiatives. The role will initially operate behind the scenes, with the opportunity to become more client-facing over time. The ideal candidate combines exceptional analytical skills with startup adaptability, strong business judgment, and an AI-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling & Forecasting

Build and maintain advanced financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses
Assist with budgeting, cash flow planning, pricing analysis, and operational finance projects
Work with messy or incomplete datasets and turn them into actionable recommendations

Strategic Finance & Client Support

Support strategic finance initiatives for growth-stage CPG and consumer brands
Analyze trade spend, profitability, operational performance, and growth metrics
Participate in client calls when required to support analytical discussions

Dashboards & Reporting

Develop dashboards, reporting frameworks, and business insights
Build and maintain financial reporting tools across multiple client engagements

Workflow & Productivity

Partner closely with the founder to improve workflows and delivery efficiency
Leverage AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to improve productivity and analysis
Operate independently and manage multiple workstreams across client accounts

Qualifications & Skills
Hard Skills:

3+ years of experience in Financial Analysis, FP&A, Strategic Finance, Consulting, Investment Banking, or Startup Finance
Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets modeling skills
Experience building dashboards and working with financial reporting tools
Ability to work full-time in Eastern Time hours
Experience within CPG, consumer, retail, or eCommerce industries (preferred)
Exposure to trade spend or operational finance analysis (preferred)
Strong familiarity with AI tools and automation workflows (preferred)

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities — comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete data
Startup adaptability — thrives in fast-moving, unstructured environments
Strong business judgment and commercially minded thinking
Excellent communication and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
Consulting or client-facing experience a plus
