The Greenford Park Warehouse Manager plays a crucial role within our organization overseeing the site and ensuring the safe delivery, handling, storage and release of artworks from Sotheby’s care. This role requires a blend of leadership skills, art handling experience and knowledge, as well excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and motivating a team of onsite technicians to deliver exceptional service standards to both internal and external clients. The role requires effective collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders including Specialist departments, Risk Management & Security, Facilities, Client Experience, Seller Operations and Photography Studios, to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely execution of operational activities. Through strong leadership and cross-functional partnership, the Warehouse Manager drives operational excellence, supports business objectives, and ensures seamless coordination across the artwork and sales lifecycle.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage the day-to-day operation of the warehouse ensuring efficient receiving, storage, handling, movement and preparation for transportation of artworks.
- →Collaborate with the New Bond Street Gallery Manager to schedule all internal sales transport between Greenford Park & New Bond Street.
- →Work closely with Head of Logistics & Gallery Operations to plan and implement budgetary requirements with regards to organizing overtime, external support and internal transport.
- →Take a proactive role in problem-solving and decision-making to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of operational activities at the warehouse site.
- →Collaborate with the New Bond Street Gallery Manager & Technician Manager in overseeing the wider technician team, ensuring all team members are effectively utilized to optimize efficiencies, as well as scheduling support from third-party vendors and casual technicians
- →Work alongside the Logistics Support Manager and Greenford Office Manager to ensure all onsite equipment is regularly tested and fully complies with relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- →Partner with other operational departments, including Risk Management & Security and Facilities, to foster a high level of collaboration and seamless workflow.
- →Collaborate closely with Seller Operations, Client Experience, and Logistics teams to ensure the efficient coordination and seamless flow of all inbound and outbound property.
- →Maximise warehouse capacity and optimise storage layouts.
- →Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- →Maintain warehouse security procedures and emergency response protocols.

- Proven experience in art handling and warehouse management / operational leadership roles within an Auction house environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of motivating teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Confident Communicator with a professional and calm approach.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent Organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
- Display a positive attitude and adhere to Sotheby's Service Standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, Google Sheets and SAP.
- Employees in this role will be expected to have a flexible approach to work and will be required to work on selected evenings and weekends and maybe required to provide a level of support to other locations.
