This role sits in the Controllers organisation, part of the Group Internal Finance team at Trustly, which also includes Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Finance Operations and Finance Systems. The team is dynamic and cross-jurisdictional, with an ethos of collaboration and continuous improvement at its heart.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Payroll and Benefits Analyst to lead end-to-end payroll and benefits operations in Brazil. You will own payroll accuracy and labor compliance, advise and train the associate team, and work with the Payroll Manager on complex cases, process improvements and vendor and audit relationships.

Responsibilities

Payroll & Time-off:

  • →

    Run and advise on the full payroll closing cycle (inputs, validation of final files, tax assessments), and review the team's adherence to the payroll checklist;

  • →

    Manage the full vacation cycle (PTO/UTO) with HR, planning team vacations so all employees take their periods within labor law deadlines;

  • →

    Own the end-to-end termination process (calculations, payments, workflow), guiding junior staff and ensuring a positive offboarding experience;

  • →

    Advise on onboarding and offboarding tasks, and build the onboarding benefits and payroll calendars with the People team;

  • →

    Monitor workloads, accrued hours and hours bank balances with managers and employees, and produce monthly workload reports with HR for labor compliance and staff health monitoring;

  • →

    Maintain payroll data in the system (compensation, time records, leave, deductions) and keep employee data and documents current in the HRIS, Backoffice tools and Google Drive, correcting errors promptly;

  • →

    Resolve complex payroll cases involving tax implications, accounting discrepancies, regulatory compliance, time reporting anomalies and labor agreements.

Benefits:

    Administer and reconcile benefits (health, dental, meal vouchers, life insurance, etc.), and advise associates on benefits processes and flows;

  • →

    Review benefits invoices with Accounting, ensuring correct billing and cost center allocation, and investigate variances, root causes and fixes;

  • →

    Manage reimbursements and their inclusion in payroll and payment platforms.

Compliance, Vendors & Audits:

  • →

    Manage relationships with payroll suppliers (BPO, health care and others), ensuring accurate processing and statutory reporting (eSocial);

  • →

    Follow up on HSE management: occupational medicine exams, eSocial events, PWD concierge service, legal required documents and health dashboards with the HSE provider;

  • →

    Handle government requests and manage communication with auditors for smooth audits;

  • →

    Monitor compliance with labor legislation, including vacation deadlines and sick leave validations.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

  • →

    Produce and analyze reports (costs, journal entries, taxes, benefits control, monthly variances, vacation reports) and review results and actions with the Payroll Manager;

  • →

    Configure HRIS data and reports to support decision making and verification;

  • →

    Lead process improvements, and guide associates in developing policies, processes, flowcharts, procedures and manuals.

Knowledge, Training & Leadership:

  • →

    Own payroll knowledge management with HR and Legal (when applicable), answering routine and non-routine questions from the team, employees and managers, and standardizing responses to new inquiries;

  • →

    Turn employee queries into a structured FAQ and keep it accurate and easy to use;

  • →

    Run technical training for the payroll team, and training on internal processes for employees and managers;

  • →

    Lead department and third-party meetings, and contribute actively to payroll and benefits discussions;

  • →

    Coach associates and support experts, progressively advising other payroll professionals.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience in Payroll and Benefits administration in Brazil, including a lead or advisory role;

  • Solid knowledge of Brazilian labor law, tax and statutory requirements (including eSocial);

  • Experience managing payroll vendors (BPO) and working with HR/payroll systems;

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate root causes;

  • Ability to manage multiple processes and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;

  • Strong communication skills, with experience training or mentoring others;

  • Advanced English (mandatory).

Desirable:

  • Experience in multinational companies;

  • Experience with audits and government requests;

  • Exposure to process improvement initiatives or systems implementation;

  • Experience with RPA (Robotic Process Automation).

  • Experience in Implementation of Payroll System
