UNICEF Mozambique is a large Country Office with staff based in Maputo and in four Field Offices in Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Sofala and Zambezia provinces. The Country Office implements a broad range of development and humanitarian interventions. MCO established a Planning/Monitoring/Information Management (P/M/IM) Hub under the Planning & Monitoring Section to ensure one overall integrated planning, monitoring and data system for the Country Office. This system will focus on UNICEF priority areas and humanitarian cluster coordination, including identification of data needs, data collection, GIS mapping, data centralization, analysis and dissemination, using innovative approaches where possible and as needed. Under the supervision of a Planning and Monitoring Specialist (P-3 level) and in close collaboration with Programme Section Chiefs, Chiefs of Field Offices (CFOs), Sector Cluster Coordinators and Operations, the Information Management (IM) Officer will provide substantive support on IM for development and humanitarian programming by Sections, Field Offices and Sector Clusters.

The Information Management Officer will support UNICEF in identifying and GIS mapping the most vulnerable children, including those affected by emergencies and disasters, by leveraging survey, routine, and administrative data, ensuring data centralization and mapping for situation monitoring to strengthen preparedness, targeting, and coordination of development and humanitarian interventions in line with the nexus approach. The role will also support Programme Sections, Field Offices, and UNICEF-led or co-led Clusters in data collection and management, working closely with Information Management Officers across Sections and Field Offices to assist Cluster Coordinators. Additionally, the officer will contribute to establishing an effective decentralized monitoring system by enabling the centralization of performance data, support the validation of sector Management Information Systems data across Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection, and Social Protection, and provide capacity building on Information Management for UNICEF Mozambique Sections, Field Offices, and partners.
