This consultancy is to support UNICEF Algeria in the contextualization, delivery, follow-up and institutional anchoring of the UPSHIFT approach for the benefit of selected cadres from the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education.
The assignment aims to strengthen the capacities of ministry staff to understand, facilitate and replicate the UPSHIFT methodology as a structured approach for developing adolescents’ and young people’s life skills, social innovation capacities, problem-solving abilities, civic engagement and transition-related competencies. The consultancy will contribute to the broader UNICEF agenda on adolescent and youth development, Life Skills and Citizenship Education (LSCE), youth participation, employability and learning-to-earning pathways. Requirements
~1 min read- Education: Master’s degree in education, social sciences, entrepreneurship, innovation, adolescent development, training engineering, pedagogy, social work, public policy or other related disciplines.
- Work Experience: At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in capacity building, training of trainers, participatory facilitation, social innovation, adolescent and youth empowerment, life skills, entrepreneurship/social entrepreneurship, youth engagement or related fields. Proven experience in designing training materials, methodological tools and capitalization products. Experience working with public institutions is required.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in French is required. Arabic is strongly desired. Knowledge of English is an asset.
- Knowledge/Expertise/Skills: Strong understanding of life skills, LSCE-related approaches, participatory pedagogy, facilitation of adult learning, coaching, youth-centered innovation, monitoring and documentation. Ability to respond to both institutional demand from ministries and UNICEF’s strategic added value on inclusion, participation, safeguarding and quality assurance.
- Desirables: Prior knowledge or practical experience with UPSHIFT or comparable social innovation approaches. Experience in Algeria or similar institutional contexts. Experience with vulnerable adolescents and young people, disability inclusion or gender-sensitive programming is an asset.
