In line with the commitment to safeguard capacity and support personnel already in the Organization, a majority of UNDP UNCDF/UNV vacancies are advertised using a tiered application process whereby:

  • Tier 0: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV IP staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed-term (FTA) appointments, whose posts will be abolished, or contracts will be terminated or not renewed during 2026.
  • Tier 1: Other UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed-term (FTA) appointments
  • Tier 2: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding temporary appointments (TA), personnel on regular PSA contracts, and Expert and Specialist UN Volunteers
  • Tier 3 or no tier indicated: All other contract types from UNDP/UNCDF/UNV and other agencies, and other external candidates

The Gender Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring that gender equality and women’s empowerment are integrated into all aspects of UNDP’s work, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The Gender Analyst provides technical and advisory support to the Country Office to ensure the effective integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment across UNDP programmes and projects. The position contributes to gender-responsive programme design, implementation, monitoring, and policy engagement in alignment with UNDP’s Gender Equality Strategy.

 

  • Conduct gender analysis to inform programme design and policy dialogue.
  • Provide technical inputs to programme documents, project proposals, and results frameworks.
  • Support integration of gender perspectives across programme portfolios.
  • Ensure gender markers and indicators are applied in programme planning.
  • Develop and deliver gender mainstreaming training for staff/ personnel  and partners.
  • Monitor implementation of gender equality commitments.
  • Prepare analytical reports on gender results.
  • Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned that are generated from the project and implementing partners. 
  • Participate in and ensure sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice on project related issues. Support establishment of knowledge platforms for the project, facilitate  innovative mechanisms for dissemination of knowledge from the project, and develop knowledge resources and products to share with project partners and to support UNDP’s engagement in this area.

The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

The Gender Analyst supports the Programme specialist and works closely with the RR, DRR in the implementation of gender-related initiatives, ensuring that gender perspectives are effectively integrated into UNDP’s programs and policies.

Min. Education requirements

Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender or Women’s Studies, or relevant field is required. Or 

 

A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of relevant experience will be given due consideration in lieu of advanced university degree.  

 

 

Min. years of relevant work experience 

Minimum of two (2) years (with Master’s degree) or four (4) years (with Bachelors’ degree) of experience in relevant work experience  in the area of gender equality and women empowerment is required.

 

 

Required   skills 
  • Proven experience and deep understanding of current and emerging gender equality challenges and trends.

    • Experience and knowledge of global gender analysis and mainstreaming tools and standards.

     

Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups.

    • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks in gender programming.
    • Proficiency in relevant software and databases for data analysis.
    • Experience in reporting and publication purposes.

     

Required Language(s) 

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
