About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly credible professional to establish and lead a newly created Case Management function. This is a recently established role following a strategic redesign of our People and Wellbeing division. 

This role will play a central and strategic role in how the University manages employee matters; ensuring they are handled with consistency, fairness, and sound judgement, while supporting all parties through complex and often sensitive situations, and carefully managing legal, reputational and people risk.

As Case Management Lead, you will design and embed a mature, institution-wide employee relations case management framework, while also working hands-on across a range of sensitive and high-risk matters. You will act as a key escalation point and trusted advisor, partnering closely with Business Partners, Workplace Relations, Legal and senior leaders to navigate complex situations and achieve balanced, respectful and defensible outcomes.

We are seeking a candidate with deep technical expertise, sound judgement, and the maturity to lead in complex environments, including: 

  • Extensive experience managing high-risk employee relations matters, including misconduct, grievances and performance issues 
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting procedurally fair workplace investigations, producing clear, defensible findings and recommendations 
  • Strong judgement and risk assessment capability, with the ability to manage matters involving significant legal, reputational and industrial risk 
  • Proven experience designing and embedding case management frameworks, systems and quality assurance processes at an organisational level 
  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial frameworks, and the ability to apply these in complex and nuanced situations 
  • Experience acting as a central escalation point, providing authoritative advice and influencing decision-making at senior levels 
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to advise, challenge and support senior leaders and engage effectively with unions and external stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to build capability in others, through coaching, training and guidance in case management practice 
  • Experience leading or contributing to trauma-informed practice and sensitive case environments

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 10 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $163,281 comprising base salary within the range of $137,494 to $139,557 plus 17% superannuation. You’ll also have access an array of staff benefits and discounts including:
