The Simonds story all started in 1949 with a passionate family man, Gary Simonds. He envisioned a builder that Australians could rely on to guide them through the process of crafting their perfect home. This vision remains at the heart of Simonds today with our commitment to making the Great Australian Dream a reality by placing home ownership within Australia’s reach.
Becoming part of Team Simonds means becoming part of the family. Our people are the heart of what we do. Our homes are built for the community, by the community, with a local network of employees, trades and suppliers all working towards this vision. It is this passion, dedication, and excellence that you will find on every Simonds job site, office, and display centre across the country. Today, we stand proudly as an ASX listed & leading national builder servicing customers across Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.
Simonds has helped shape Australia. Few can say that. Whether we’re looking back at the homes of yesteryear, what we’re building now, or everything that’s still to come. We’ve not only shaped what Australia looks like, but more importantly, how Australia homes.
Step into a key role within Simonds’ Knockdown Rebuild (KDRB) and Dual Occupancy division, where your estimating expertise directly shapes some of our most bespoke and design-driven homes.
As a Sales Estimator, you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate, commercially sound pricing across premium residential projects, balancing precision, efficiency, and a strong understanding of complex build requirements. Every estimate you prepare helps bring uniquely designed homes to life, from custom standalone residences through to multi-dwelling developments.
Based at our new Docklands head office, this is your opportunity to work at the centre of a fast-paced, design-focused environment where collaboration, detail, and client outcomes are paramount.
You’ll work closely with Sales, Operations, and Construction teams to ensure a seamless pre-construction experience, while also playing a key role in identifying opportunities, managing risk, and supporting the delivery of exceptional customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for contracts, variations, and tenders within required timeframes
- Interpreting project documentation to ensure full scope and inclusions are captured
- Pricing non-standard variations and obtaining supplier/contractor quotes
- Identifying project risks and collaborating with internal teams to mitigate them early
- Providing technical estimating support to Sales and internal stakeholders
- Maintaining clear, accurate, and well-organised project documentation
You’re an experienced Sales Estimator who understands the pace, complexity, and precision required in the Knockdown Rebuild (KDRB) space. You’ve worked on residential projects where detail is critical, expectations are high, and no two builds are the same.
You bring confidence working with technical documentation, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex plans into accurate, well-considered pricing. Most importantly, you understand the end-to-end KDRB process and are comfortable navigating its unique challenges.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in sales estimating within residential construction, specifically KDRB (essential)
- Exposure to dual occupancy and/or custom residential projects (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of the National Construction Code and residential building practices
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation with accuracy
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across sales, operations, and construction teams
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to upskill into production estimating or broader estimating functions
- A team-first approach with the energy to contribute to a positive, high-performing culture
You’re someone who takes pride in accuracy, thrives in collaboration, and wants to be part of delivering standout homes in the premium residential space.
