From vegetation management and infrastructure monitoring to disaster response, UP42 helps organizations across industries find solutions to complex problems through Earth observation. We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (m/f/x) to join our motivated SRE team in Berlin to help scale and maintain our cloud infrastructure while ensuring the reliability and performance of our geospatial processing platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions using cloud-native technologies.

  • Lead and contribute to the development of our infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and other modern IaC tools.

  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and workloads in Google Cloud Platform.

  • Implement and enhance observability solutions across our platform using tools like Prometheus and other monitoring systems.

  • Drive improvements in system reliability through automation, monitoring, and incident response.

  • Collaborate with development teams to establish and maintain SLOs/SLIs.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation (office hours only) and lead incident response efforts.

  • Mentor other team members and contribute to establishing best practices for infrastructure and reliability.

  • Several years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps roles

  • Strong expertise with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform

  • Solid experience with Kubernetes administration and operations in production environments

  • Experience in implementing and managing observability solutions and monitoring systems

  • Strong background in automation and CI/CD pipeline development

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor within a collaborative team setting

  • Track record of leading technical initiatives while building consensus across multiple engineering teams

  • Effective communication skills in English with ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to Have

  • Deep expertise in system administration, software engineering, networking design & protocols, or cloud security

  • Working knowledge of security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
