Help Keep Swim Lessons Running Smoothly
British Swim School of Buffalo is hiring a dependable Deck Ambassador for our Orchard Park location. This part-time pool-deck operations and customer-service position helps coordinate lessons, supports instructors, and assists swimmers and families.

Prior aquatics experience is not required. We are looking for someone who communicates professionally, enjoys working with children and families, stays organized, takes initiative, and can consistently work scheduled shifts.

Training
Deck Ambassadors receive paid training on British Swim School procedures, customer service, class operations, safety and safeguarding practices, and systems used to support families and instructors.

Employees must complete assigned training within established deadlines and demonstrate the ability to perform the position independently.

Schedule
Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Applicants should be able to commit to at least two recurring shifts per week.

Responsibilities

Set up the pool deck before lessons and break down and store all British Swim School equipment and materials at the end of each shift.
Conduct the pre-lesson staff huddle, reviewing the schedule, new students, move-ups, absences, class changes, and other updates.
Greet families, check swimmers in, maintain attendance, and answer routine questions about classes, schedules, policies, and procedures.
Support instructors during lessons with equipment and other needs, help reassure or redirect children as needed, and document skill updates.
Help manage class transitions and maintain an organized pool deck so lessons remain on schedule.
Communicate relevant concerns to management and escalate matters outside the Deck Ambassador's authority.
Follow British Swim School safety, safeguarding, emergency, and facility procedures.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in high school or possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Enjoy working with children and families.
Dependable, trustworthy, punctual, organized, and receptive to feedback.
Strong communication and customer-service skills.
Able to remain attentive, take initiative, and manage multiple responsibilities in an active aquatic environment.
Able to follow established policies and procedures and exercise appropriate judgment about when to involve management.

Preferred qualifications include customer-service experience or experience with children, aquatics, recreation, youth programs, or camps.

Physical Requirements
This is an active, on-deck position in an indoor aquatic environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, Deck Ambassadors must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; move safely around a wet pool deck; bend and reach; lift, carry, position, and maneuver equipment and materials used for lessons; communicate effectively in a noisy environment; and maintain visual and auditory awareness of activity around them.
