Responsible for supporting the Engineering/Operations team in maintaining the structural integrity of the Vertical Bridge tower portfolio by managing Vertical Bridge’s tower modification program.

  • Manage and maintain a group of approved vendors (outside consulting firms and tower crews) to perform tower modification design and construction on Vertical Bridge owned and managed assets.
  • Provide required reports and data per project in a timely manner to both internal and external clients. Update milestones and maintain up to date comments regarding project status.
  • Project manage and coordinate with vendors both verbally and in writing when necessary to make sure projected dates of field work and construction schedules and documents are completed on time.
  • When requested – Be able to design complex tower modifications to reinforce tower structures if the loading parameters produce areas of overstressing. Coordinate the design with drafting to produce accurate detail drawings for bidding and construction purposes.
  • Work with internal Engineering Team to resolve disputes on complicated structural items when issues arise with vendor.
  • Work internally with other VB departments, Regulatory, Asset Management, Lighting, and others in order to complete modification projects.
  • In a timely manner review documents (modification drawings, post-modification inspection reports, etc.) provided by approved vendors for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and continually update tracking of all modification projects. Issue weekly KPI metrics for modifications and ensure the process is executed based on VB standards. Attend weekly meetings to report metrics and resolve issues with modifications team.
  • Work with the VB Maintenance and Condition Assessment Team to complete necessary repairs to VB assets in the same mobilization and with the same vendor as modification construction.
  • Track the modifications budget throughout the year.
  • Provide weekly and quarterly reports for review by the VP of Structural Engineering and Executive Vice President – Operations.
  • Work closely with the field operations and sales/leasing teams to provide status updates on ongoing engineering projects and bring focus on high priority tasks and projects as needed.
  • Work with the Vice President of Structural Engineering to implement new systems to efficiently complete tasks. Provide input and think creatively to help improve efficiency on how the engineering/operations department is performing various tasks.
  • Represent Vertical Bridge on various TIA sub-committees to provide input in the tower industry and stay up to date on current and future revisions of the TIA maintenance standards.
  • Locate and vet potential vendors and guide them through Vertical Bridge’s vendor approval system.
  • Utilize the company’s workflow process in an effort to advance projects to completion.
  • Work with Operations Coordinator to approve purchase orders and process invoices.
  • Other special projects that can come up from time to time and assigned by the EVP of Operations or VP of Structural Engineering

Position will work directly from the Engineering office with minimal travel. Required to attend department and company meetings.

  • Four-year degree with emphasis in civil / structural engineering required
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in structural engineering required. Telecommunication / tower industry experience is required.
  • Registration as a professional engineer (PE) is required. Structural Engineer (SE) License is a plus.
  • Knowledge in TNX Tower and RISA 3D software is required. Any additional foundation software knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge with the various building codes and standards, IBC, TIA Rev G & H, ACI, ASCE – 7 is required
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently
  • Effective in an entrepreneurial culture, working independently and as part of a team
