The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the payroll specialists and tasks in the organization's payroll department. The primary function of the supervisor is to ensure the accurate, timely, and correct processing of payroll and garnishment for more than 8,500 employees across the United States and its four territories.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- →Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- →Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, 401 (k) deductions, hours worked, union dues, taxes, insurance, other employee benefits, and employee identification number, from timekeeping and other records.
- →Reviews payroll data for accuracy - includes direct deposit forms, timekeeping reports, leave requests, and PTO requests.
- →Responds to employee/client questions regarding pay.
- →Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- →Performs a comprehensive final payroll review for each pay cycle, utilizing various checklists to verify accuracy and completeness.
- →Verifies changes affecting net wages, such as garnishments, loan payments, and other miscellaneous compensation/deductions for each employee as needed.
- →Verifies data concerning the transfer of employees between departments and/or locations.
- →Prepares periodic reports of employee earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- →Prepares weekly, monthly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
- →Manages and reviews the cash-out process for federal contracts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- →Reviews payroll data entry requests for accuracy and adequate approvals. Maintain proper documentation in adherence to established policies and guidelines, aligned with internal controls and audit requirements.
- →Prepares manual off-cycle requests and ensures proper approval is received.
- →Prepares and issues paychecks.
- →Prepares and distributes W-2’s.
- →Performs other office duties as needed to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
- →Supervise, train, and support payroll staff including workload management, coaching, and performance oversight.

Responsibilities

- →Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Accounting software; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Current/valid state driver’s license
