WB Melback Corporation is a wholly Canadian owned company with headquarters based in Haileybury, Ontario with job sites all over the country. WB Melback Corporation provides Mechanical Maintenance and Industrial Construction Services to Forestry and Mining sectors across Canada.

We are currently seeking a Field Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary
Responsible for providing technical and field support on construction projects, ensuring work is completed according to design specifications, drawings, and project requirements. Works closely with project management, site supervision, and field crews to support planning, layout, quality control, and problem-solving on active construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Field Support: Provide technical support to site supervision and construction crews
• Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret civil, structural, and construction drawings and specifications
• Layout & Survey Support: Assist with layout, measurements, and field verification of work
• Quality Control: Monitor work in progress to ensure compliance with design and specifications
• Problem Solving: Identify field issues and support resolution with engineering and project teams
• Coordination: Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and site personnel
• Documentation: Maintain accurate field records, reports, and as-built documentation
• Progress Tracking: Support tracking of project progress and quantities
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site safety requirements

Requirements & Assets:

• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in construction or industrial field engineering
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in remote and industrial project environments
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  

The following experience and qualifications are considered assets:

• Experience in mining, forestry, or heavy industrial construction projects
• Experience with surveying equipment and construction layout tools
• Experience with civil earthworks and concrete projects
• Professional designation or eligibility for registration with a relevant engineering association
• Bilingualism (English/French)

Location: Temiskaming Shores, Ontario

Work Type: On Site

Hours:
10-hour shifts (30-minute unpaid lunch)

Compensation:
$50.00 – $70.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
