Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Network Automation Engineer.
Join a dynamic Network Automation team where you will design, deploy, operate, and enhance the software platforms and automation systems that underpin modern network engineering. In this role, you will help transform complex network workflows into scalable, reliable internal tools and services that improve operational efficiency and resilience.
You will collaborate closely with network engineers to understand challenges, develop innovative solutions, and continuously improve how large-scale networks are managed and automated. This is a software-first role focused on building robust automation frameworks, platforms, and testing capabilities that support day-to-day network operations.
Working in an AI-assisted engineering environment, you will remain accountable for problem definition, critically reviewing generated outputs, and validating solutions end-to-end to ensure quality and reliability.
- Networking Software Development – Experience building applications in the networking domain.
- Automation & IaC Expertise – Strong hands-on with Ansible and Terraform, including custom plugins/modules, and familiarity with infrastructure/config-as-code.
- Systems & Platform Knowledge – Solid understanding of operating systems, Linux, and container platforms (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Programming & Coding Practices – Proficiency in Python (or similar), with experience in code reviews, pull requests, and structured problem-solving.
- Data & Database Skills – Ability to write database queries, with working knowledge of MongoDB.
- DevOps & SDLC Tooling – Experience with testing strategies, build/packaging systems, dependency management, and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins).
