Supported Residential Service Specialist (1:1 Support)

Position Title:              Residential Support Specialist

Position Status:           Part-time Hourly

PAY STRUCTURE:       Hourly Salary Range ($17-$19/hour)

REPORT To:                 Residential Support Coordinator



Summary Description:

Residential Support Specialist works in a residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities and assists them so they can live independently.

 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure that individuals maintain their homes in a livable manner while preserving their dignity and personal choice. Encourage and teach them to clean, do laundry, cook, and other household chores.
  • Help them schedule appointments, provide reminders for upcoming appointments, and attend when needed. Confirm that they received all their monthly medications.
  • Take them on enrichment activities in the community.
  • Assist and guide individuals in budgeting funds (this includes shopping or other activities involving money management).
  • Complete and maintain all documentation required on a web-based system that employee will be trained on.
  • Monitor program compliance and progress with the Individual Service Plan.
  • May attend Individual Service Planning meetings (ISP).
  • Effectively communicate with the client’s team, which can include their guardian, case manager, doctor, pharmacist, employer, co-workers, and anyone else that helps the individuals.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and protect the individual's rights.

 

Compensation & Benefits:  

  • $17-$19 per hour.
  • Hourly rate will depend on previous experience, education, readiness to learn, and/or bilingual.
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance for full time employees



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to provide regular and predictable attendance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid vehicle operator license, proof of liability insurance, and ability to drive your own vehicle.
  • Pass a State & National background screen.
  • Must be 19 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience working with the developmentally disabled is preferred.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  • Ability to walk up stairs and access client’s homes.
  • Transporting clients to appointments, stores, or recreational activities.
  • Lifting (under 25 lbs) and carrying equipment/material as required
