Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Product Engineer), you will focus on supporting manufacturing process performance, product performance, and process control for Tainan manufacturing operations. This role requires hands-on engagement with manufacturing processes and close collaboration with production teams to ensure stable output, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will work closely with Production, Quality, Process Engineering, NPI, Automation, suppliers, subcontractors, and global teams to ensure stable production, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement in yield, cost, and process capability. This role is expected to be hands-on with manufacturing processes and to support day-to-day production stability as well as longer-term improvements. Here you will make an impact by:
ž Supporting and improving manufacturing process and product performance to maintain stable production and resolve issues efficiently.
ž Analyzing manufacturing, process, inspection, and quality issues, identifying root causes, and following through on corrective actions.
ž Supporting or taking ownership of specific manufacturing processes or production areas to ensure stable output and yield performance.
ž Supporting inspection process control and outgoing quality, including inspection method improvement, defect feedback alignment, and quality gate effectiveness.
ž Supporting Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), including requirement alignment, defect classification, and capability improvement.
ž Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to support outsourcing activities, quality feedback, and issue closure.
ž Driving or supporting process improvements related to yield, cost, productivity, equipment performance, and automation.
ž Supporting product and BOM alignment, product changes, and production readiness activities.
ž Participating in NPI and trial runs, including process evaluation, inspection readiness, and issue tracking.
ž Maintaining engineering documentation such as process standards, inspection criteria, work instructions, and change records.
ž Working with cross-functional teams to support daily operations and improvement activities.
ž Supporting other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires, at a minimum, the following qualifications:
ž Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
ž Experience or demonstrated capability in manufacturing process engineering, production engineering, product engineering, or quality engineering.
ž Ability to analyze process, product, or quality issues and support structured problem solving.
ž Basic understanding of manufacturing process control, quality control, and continuous improvement.
ž Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
~2 min readž 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
ž Experience in manufacturing process ownership, line support, yield improvement, or process troubleshooting.
ž Familiar with inspection process, outgoing quality control, AOI, defect analysis, or quality gate control.
ž Experience in manufacturing industries such as automotive, mechanical, chemical processing, or other high-volume production environments is highly preferred.
ž Experience in industries such as optical film, converting, lamination, precision manufacturing, electronics, or display.
ž Experience in product change management, BOM support, NPI, or production readiness.
ž Experience working with subcontractors or suppliers.
ž Familiar with tools such as 8D, CAPA, RCA, FMEA, SPC, or similar methods.
ž Able to connect process conditions, product performance, and production data.
ž Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, handle multiple priorities, and proactively support production needs
ž Experience in equipment-intensive processes or manual adjustment of process parameters is a plus
ž Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ž Comfortable working across teams and functions.
ž Good English communication for basic technical discussion.
