Production Expeditor

The Production Expeditor is responsible for supporting the timely flow of materials, components, and work orders through the manufacturing process to help ensure customer delivery commitments are met. This position works closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Inventory Control, and Shipping to identify shortages, resolve production constraints, prioritize critical jobs, and maintain visibility of work throughout the manufacturing process. The Production Expeditor will actively monitor production schedules and work-in-process (WIP), follow up on overdue or priority jobs, and communicate potential delays or material shortages to the appropriate departments. This role requires strong organization, communication, and follow-through in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• →Monitor production schedules, work orders, and customer priorities to ensure jobs progress through manufacturing according to required completion dates.
• →Expedite priority and time-sensitive work orders through production to support customer delivery requirements.
• →Track work-in-process (WIP) throughout manufacturing and identify jobs that are delayed, stalled, or at risk of missing scheduled completion dates.
• →Work directly with Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and operators to determine the status of open work orders and establish expected completion dates.
• →Identify material, component, tooling, documentation, quality, or resource shortages that could impact production schedules.
• →Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Engineering, and Quality to help resolve production constraints and shortages.
• →Communicate production delays, risks, and schedule changes to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
• →Assist with prioritizing work on the production floor based on customer requirements, production schedules, and management direction.
• →Monitor jobs requiring inspection, outside processing, engineering review, or other support activities and follow up to prevent unnecessary delays.
• →Ensure required materials and components are available to support scheduled production activities.
• →Follow up on purchased and internally manufactured components required for critical production orders.
• →Support the movement of materials and work orders between manufacturing departments as necessary.
• →Maintain accurate status information for priority jobs and provide regular updates to Production and Operations leadership.
• →Review production schedules and reports to identify upcoming shortages or potential bottlenecks before they impact customer deliveries.
• →Assist Planning and Operations with schedule recovery activities when production falls behind established requirements.
• →Support on-time delivery initiatives and help drive manufacturing priorities needed to meet customer commitments.
• →Participate in daily production meetings and provide updates regarding critical jobs, shortages, constraints, and recovery actions.
• →Maintain accurate information within the company’s ERP/manufacturing system, including JobBOSS, as applicable.
• →Coordinate with Shipping to ensure completed priority orders are processed and shipped according to customer requirements.
• →Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business and production needs.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in production control, manufacturing, planning, expediting, inventory control, material coordination, or a related manufacturing role preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems; JobBOSS experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand production schedules, work orders, routers/travelers, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong follow-up skills and ability to drive actions to completion.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across Production, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and other departments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential production issues and escalate them appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

• Ability to regularly walk throughout manufacturing and production areas to monitor job status and coordinate priorities.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as required.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.

• Understanding of manufacturing workflows and production scheduling.
• Ability to identify production bottlenecks and prioritize competing requirements.
• Strong sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Detail-oriented with strong recordkeeping and tracking skills.
