LVN III - VAD & Infusion Clinic

We are growing and looking for an LVN III for City of Hope Lennar Foundation Cancer Center in Irvine.  The LVN is responsible for the coordination and communication of pertinent patient pre-admission and pre-procedure information between the patient, physician, nursing units.  The LVN is responsible for drawing labs, EKGs and PK lab drawls. Ideal candidate will have VAD experience, dressing changes and ports. Apply good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Prepares patient appointments by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointment. This includes checking for                 updates of recent test results, lab results and correspondence. Also reviews patient record (EHR) to determine needed services       and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit.

• Provides initial medical screening: Greets patients and directs them to appropriate exam / procedure room. 

• Assists provider or nurse upon request during examination / procedure of patient and according to generally accepted medical         standards. Practices universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols. Facilitate communication between the         provider(s) and patient as needed, including translation as appropriate.

• Provides administrative back-up support to the health care team as assigned and as necessary for the smooth and efficient             operation of the clinic. Accepts floating assignments to other clinical areas as needed and assigned.

• Maintains workstation in accordance with protecting PHI. Performs routine quality check of equipment and promptly reports              damaged or missing equipment from exam/procedure rooms.

• Maintains exam / procedure rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort             and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies           are low and work with nursing staff to ensure timely reordering is completed.

• Maintains compliance with manufacture guidelines to include but not limited to disinfectant/sterilization and safe handling of             instruments/equipment.

• Attend staff and medical meetings, as required.

• Annually demonstrates competence in accordance with required functions.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Must demonstrate competence in medication administration and knowledge prior to administering medications.

• Performs peripheral blood drawing (phlebotomy).

• Performs patient education when appropriate, provides health care instructions and documents in the EHR.

• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature,                 attending in-service meetings, and workshops.

• Participates in unit/clinic-based projects and activities.

• Completion of a vocational nursing program

• 3 years of work experience as an LVN with a strong background in patient assessment and independent decision making in a           primary care clinical setting and must meet 2 of the additional experience requirements.

• Currently performing IV Therapy in their role as a clinical need or currently performing blood withdrawal in their role as clinical           need or Proficient in the utilization of care and/or Lead clinic throughput or Served on a quality improvement team 

• Current LVN licensure in the State of California. 

• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association 

Preferred:

• Board Certification in Intravenous Therapy

• Board Certification in Blood Withdraw
