Manage and implement the planning of nutrition initiatives and events.  Initiate and execute events to educate the district (students, staff, parents and administration) and community on Food & Child Nutrition Services programs.  Serve as liaison for the various department programs and initiatives with internal and external partners that promote student health and wellness and department goals.  Promote program meal participation of child nutrition programs and provide support to cafeteria operations on school marketing programs such as breakfast in the classroom and after school supper programs.  Manage and initiate the marketing of nutrition initiatives/events through media, website and social media for various events and activities.

 

 

  • Provide leadership and guidance to online, digital and social media marketing projects and initiatives

  • Plan and direct the development of nutrition education, awareness activities and serve as authority on nutrition initiatives for the department.   Serve as department public relations representative and meet with parents and students advisory groups and conduct surveys to acquire input for program improvement

  • Oversee implementation of marketing initiatives and identify new marketing opportunities and supervise and assist in creative web content (text, image and video).  Assist in social media including Facebook

  • Support and assist with Farm to School activities with campuses, district staff, distributors and community partners.  Coordinate the marketing of school nutrition material and cafeteria decor for campuses

  • Create and edit brochures, publications, ads and other print and electronic promotional media

  • Respond to surveys and requests for program information as directed by the Assistant Director

  • Collaborate with district's communication department to manage press releases, media inquiries and joint social media efforts to increase engagement with district and program awareness.  Collaborate with other marketing services as necessary

  • Collaborate with other department team members and consultants, when necessary to coordinate and execute activities related to Menu Advisory Committee and other district wide annual events as Food Festival, Cooking Up Change, Break Meals advertisement and Summer Meals Kick Off and other events as required

  • Develop co-marketing opportunities with vendors, influencers, community organizations, partners and others.  Collaborate in increasing Dallas ISD presence in conferences and professional events (attend as required)

  • Evaluate, recommend and coordinate department website updates with FCNS technology staff and improvements as approved by the Professional Development and Marketing Manager and perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

  • Occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 25 lbs

     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field from a four year college or university.  Master's Degree preferred in related field

  • Five years experience in related field or similar position.  Experience in programming for children and collaboration is required

  • Excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills.  Good problem solving and critical thinking skills and able to collaborate in a team environment

  • Ability to assimilate complex ideas and detailed information into well-written, spoken and visual communication

     

  • Ability to work outside normal office schedule for events included but not limited to health fairs, PTO meetings, Menu Advisory Committee and media requests

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage many concurrent projects

  • Demonstrated computer skills, specifically with MS Office, Adobe and video/virtual meeting software

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interface effectively with a wide variety of district personnel

  • Demonstrated effective technical writing and reading skills, including oral presentations
