Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Provides direction and technical expertise on the performance of appropriate laboratory testing, coordination, and standardization.
- →Evaluates, researches, recommends, and develops new methodologies, procedures, and instrumentation to ensure ACL remains on the cutting edge.
- →Implements testing methodologies that ensure continued service line success that is consistent with strategic and scientific goals.
- →Develops collaborative relationships with medical directors, physicians, laboratory leadership, and clients that utilize ACL services. Develops and implements standardized policies and procedures that ensure accrediting and regulatory compliance and align with ACL's quality management program. Reviews proficiency testing performance and method comparison data.
- →Represents the laboratory at system, regional, and hospital committees, councils and clinical teams as appropriate. Provides technical and consultative support to internal and external customers and stakeholders. Demonstrates in-depth departmental knowledge and serves as a content expert in their respective discipline.
- →Provides input for new test business case submissions and input for resource impact due to new platforms and methodology changes.
- →Provides input for clinical communications and test bulletins as appropriate.
- →Monitors various scientific and technical groups and organizations for new and revised testing and interpretative guidelines.
- →Assists in developing operating and capital budgets.
- →Remains active in national, regional, and local professional organizations.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required: Board registered in respective laboratory discipline when applicable
Education Required: Doctorate Degree with Clinical Fellowship in Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics, or related field.
Experience Required: Typically requires 10 years of experience in clinical laboratory areas of respective laboratory discipline.
- Proven management and leadership skills, including proven ability to work with others.
- Proven team building skills and excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of health care finance and laboratory regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizations skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems.
- Discipline specific technical knowledge and expertise.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. and will occasionally be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk the majority of the workday.
- May be exposed to the following hazards: mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, radioactive, and infectious agents.
- The position requires travel; therefore, the incumbent will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- May be exposed to human blood and body fluids so must wear protective clothing as needed.
- Exposed to normal office environment.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
