Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Combination of night shifts 1900-0700 and mid-shifts 1300-0100.

Every third weekend and rotating holidays.

$21.85 - $32.80

  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the TM practices., or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Intravenous license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices, or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Intermediate license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices, or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices., or
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy, transporting patients to other departments, placing patient on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs wound care, inserts Foley catheters, and obtains lab specimens. May perform IV starts if allowed by state regulations.
  • Documents information/procedures and promptly communicates observations, concerns and needs of the patient to the registered nurse.
  • Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedure through the Electronic Health record (EHR).
  • Collaborates with physicians to support communications required to facilitate patient care. Coordinates and facilitates all forms of communications (phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system).
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment, following department safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Monitors equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Arranges repair of major malfunctions.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

    Requirements

    • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
    • Must be able to:
    • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
    • Lift up to 20 lbs over the head.
    • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
    • Must be able to:
    • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
    • Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
    • Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
    • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids.
    • Will be required to wear gloves, goggles, and gowns on an as-needed basis.
    • Must have functional sight and hearing.
    • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
