Essential Functions

  • Serves as liaison to the department of medical education and research at CR and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to align service, teaching and research initiatives.
  • Performs neuropsychological evaluations, appropriate to each patient, which focuses primarily upon the organic aspects of brain function, but which also takes into account other etiological factors which may affect patient's functional abilities.
  • Utilizes Psychometrists for the administration and scoring of tests as appropriate, and insures the accuracy of their administration and scoring through the review and supervision of those.
  • Provides psychotherapy, counseling (individual, family, group), education, cognitive retraining, behavior management, and/or crisis intervention as appropriate to treat problem areas identified in the assessment process.
  • Develops and documents appropriate treatment plans according to departmental guidelines, and discusses these with the patient and/or representative to ensure they participate in the development of the plan and consent to treatments.
  • Trains professional team members involved in the care of the patient with regard to appropriate observational methods and behavior management techniques, and appropriate supportive roles in the patient's neuropsychological treatment.
  • Provides evaluation and advice regarding the diagnosis and management of patients, based upon privileges granted.
  • Provides information, reports, and education to outside professionals, agencies, schools, workplaces, etc. as appropriate and after proper release of information has been executed.
  • Provides education to patients, families, team members and others in the community regarding the neuropsychological and rehabilitation aspects of injury, illness, and recovery, and fosters community understanding and acceptance of individuals with disabilities.

Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced patient care office setting. Vision and hearing (corrected) sufficiently acute for accurate behavioral observation in assessment and interpretation of behaviors of patient population served. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds. Ability to push patients in a wheelchair . Ability to sit, stand, bend, and transfer patients.
