Medical Assistant - Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic

• 7:45am - 4:30pm

This position is sign-on bonus eligible if the candidate meets organizational qualifications.

The Medical Assistant II supports the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistant IIs must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EM
• Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant

• →Room patients, obtain vital signs, and update medical information.
• →Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing using infection control standards.
• →Assist providers with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
• →Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and IV therapy as permitted.
• →Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care, referrals, appointments, and prescription refills.
• →Document patient information and communicate effectively with providers and care team members.
• →Perform advanced clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, spirometry, wound care, catheterization, and suture/staple removal, as trained and supervised.
• →Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• →Perform equipment maintenance, sterilization, and quality checks.
• →Support quality improvement, patient-centered care, and care management initiatives.
• →Deliver age-appropriate care while assessing and addressing the unique needs of patients across the lifespan.

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians. 
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems. 
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.
