8 am - 5pm. Weekend work required periodically for animal care and experiments.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Laboratory Technician II to join our research team. This role involves conducting laboratory experiments, primarily rodent-based studies, with a high degree of independence. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with animal handling and a demonstrated ability or strong aptitude to learn, perform, and master complex experimental protocols and advanced surgical techniques.
This position is well-suited for a dependable, driven individual who can take initiative, contribute to experimental design and execution, and lead select projects within the lab.
Key Responsibilities
• Independently perform and support rodent procedures (mice and rats), including injections, surgeries, husbandry, and placement of intravenous catheters and vascular access ports.
• Learn, refine, and apply complex surgical techniques and experimental methodologies with increasing autonomy.
• Prepare drug solutions and independently calculate and verify dosages for experiments.
• Coordinate and organize experimental schedules, taking initiative to optimize workflow and lab efficiency.
• Maintain thorough, accurate experimental records and ensure high-quality data entry and integrity.
• Take the lead on designated projects, including execution, troubleshooting, and progress tracking.
• Oversee aspects of lab operations, including ordering supplies through Workday, managing inventory, and ensuring proper maintenance of equipment.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data using relevant software packages, contributing to data quality and reporting.
• Ensure strict compliance with all experimental protocols, animal care regulations, and laboratory safety standards.
• Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently to drive research forward.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support research objectives.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience in research, pharmaceutical, or clinical laboratories).
• Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience with rodent handling and general laboratory procedures; experience with or strong ability to learn and master advanced surgical techniques and complex experiments.
• Soft Skills: Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment. Proven initiative and problem-solving ability required.
• Preferred: Experience with data analysis software, leading or supporting research projects, and familiarity with compliance inspections or regulatory standards.
