Research Postdoctoral Fellow - Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, in collaboration with the Center for Remote Health Monitoring at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a growing interdisciplinary research program focused on developing, evaluating, and implementing technology-enabled approaches to improve mobility, physical function, and musculoskeletal health.

Our research integrates biomechanics, artificial intelligence, digital health, behavioral science, implementation science, and human-centered design to create scalable solutions that improve health across the lifespan. Current and planned projects include developing objective movement assessment tools using smartphone video, markerless motion capture, wearable sensors, and machine learning; designing and evaluating digital interventions to improve physical activity and musculoskeletal health; developing digital biomarkers of mobility and physical function; implementing technology-enabled interventions within healthcare systems; and building next-generation digital health platforms that combine movement assessment, remote monitoring, and personalized behavioral support.

Additional collaborative projects include adaptive sports, healthy aging, rehabilitation, and sports performance. Researchers will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing studies while helping shape new research directions and develop independent projects through collaborations across Wake Forest University School of Medicine and external academic, clinical, and industry partners.

• Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience publishing scientific manuscripts
• Strong scientific writing skills

• Experience with biomechanics, digital health, computer vision, wearable sensors, machine learning, clinical research, or implementation science
• The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly collaborative, interested in developing an independent academic research career, and excited to help build a growing research program focused on translating innovative technologies into meaningful improvements in human health.
