Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is seeking a senior Market Access professional to lead the development and execution of access, funding and value strategies for point-of-care (POC) diagnostics across Southern Europe, with primary focus on France and Belgium, and extension to Spain and Italy.
This role places Market Access at the core, ensuring that innovative decentralized diagnostic solutions achieve sustainable funding, reimbursement, and adoption. The position goes beyond traditional pricing and reimbursement by integrating clinical value demonstration, real-world evidence, and healthcare system transformation into a coherent access strategy.
The objective is to secure and expand access for rapid diagnostics, enabling their integration into patient pathways, supporting healthcare system efficiency, and addressing critical system pressures such as emergency department overcrowding during epidemic periods.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Develop and implement comprehensive Market Access strategies for POC diagnostics across France, Belgium, Spain, and Italy.
- Define clear pathways to POCT adoption, reimbursement & funding pathway, aligned with country-specific HTA requirements and payer expectations in assigned segments.
- Lead interactions with public and private payers, C- suites, HTA bodies, and health authorities, positioning POC diagnostics within value-based healthcare frameworks.
- Anticipate and shape the impact of policy, regulatory and HTA developments, ensuring proactive positioning of Abbott solutions.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to remove access barriers and accelerate uptake, embedding access strategies into go-to-market execution plan.
- Lead the development of robust value business cases, articulating clinical, economic, and organizational benefits of POCT.
- Design and oversee health economic models, budget impact analyses, and cost-effectiveness studies to support pathway adoption and funding decisions.
- Ensure alignment between evidence generation and payer evidence requirements, strengthening access success rates.
- Translate evidence into compelling value narratives tailored to payers, policymakers and institutional stakeholders.
- Drive Real-World Evidence (RWE) and outcomes research initiatives to support access and funding discussions.
- Build partnerships with healthcare institutions to generate local evidence on resource utilization, patient flow, and system efficiency.
- Support publication and dissemination strategies to strengthen credibility with HTA bodies and scientific communities.
- Use evidence to continuously optimize access strategies and demonstrate long-term value.
- Support the integration of POC diagnostics into clinical pathways, ensuring alignment with reimbursement frameworks.
- Collaborate with healthcare stakeholders to align financial incentives, care delivery models, and diagnostic adoption.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving health system efficiency and patient flow, particularly during epidemic peaks.
- Identify structural barriers to adoption and address them through access-driven solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with payers, HTA authorities, policymakers, and key institutional stakeholders.
- Engage KOLs and scientific societies to support value recognition and access positioning.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Marketing teams.
- Ensure consistent and strategic Market Access representation in country planning and execution.
Requirements
~1 min read- Strong Market Access expertise with proven experience in reimbursement, pricing, and funding across European healthcare systems.
- Deep understanding of HTA processes, payer decision drivers, and evidence requirements in France (essential) and Belgium; exposure to Spain and Italy is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to build and execute access strategies that drive product uptake and sustainable funding.
- Expertise in health economics, outcomes research, and evidence-based value communication.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience interacting with payers, policymakers, and health authorities.
- Experience in MedTech, diagnostics, or broader healthcare sector.
- Fluency in French and English; Spanish or Italian is a plus.
- Advanced degree in health economics, public health, life sciences, or related field preferred.
- Experience integrating access strategy with clinical pathway transformation.
- Ability to translate complex evidence into clear payer-relevant insights and negotiation strategies.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to align cross-functional teams around access priorities.
- Experience managing multi-country, multi-stakeholder projects in complex environments.
Paris (France), with travel across Southern Europe.
