This is an onsite position based in our Plymouth or St. Paul, MN locations within the GENC General Counsel division.
The Patent Admin reports to an Attorney.
Assists with legal services for assigned responsibilities or clients.
Supports the business in the achievement of business objectives
Assists more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys in resolving legal issues on projects involving single disciplines/functional areas within the Legal Division and/or a division within Abbott
Knowledge of Abbott’s business and client areas supported
Generates and edits legal and patent documents at direction of paralegal(s) and attorney(s)
Represents Abbott externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, opposing counsel or government agencies with direction and guiding process.
Represents Legal Division internally to clients
Proactively drafts templates for substantive docket items.
Identifies and coordinates best practices and training/seminars.
Interacts across all/multiple levels of management
Requirements
~1 min readAssociate’s Degree and/or relevant legal education required.
2 - 4 years of relevant administrative experience
Must have strong communication and writing skills
Must have excellent computer skills including experience with document creation and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat).
Must be able to work under pressure and work in a team environment requiring collaboration and communication with prioritization and attention to detail
Legal and/or patent experience preferred
Prefer experience with patent management software and use of USPTO websites.
Prefer prior database administration and /or docketing and filing experience
