Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs:
- interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
- Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
- Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
This position sits within Group Finance who are responsible for a combination of Group reporting, financial planning and analysis, Treasury and Capital.
About the Role
~1 min readThis is an important role within the Group reporting team in finance. The role holder will be responsible for a range of activities including the reporting of adjusted operating profit and other key performance indicators. Ther role holder will also support production of the Annual report and accounts (ARA) and Half year results (HYR) announcement including the strategic report section. The team also supports a range of additional reporting and technical accounting related tasks as required.
You'll work within an area committed to producing high-quality work to tight deadlines with a focus on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Ensuring accurate reporting of adjusted operating profit and other key performance indicators both internally and externally, supporting elements of the monthly/quarterly reporting process including segmental reporting, Associates/joint ventures and significant listed investments.
- →Preparation and review of the Strategic report section of the Group's ARA and HYR announcement. Support enhancements to corporate reporting and review of best practice reporting.
- →Supporting the team on the Group’s IFRS external reporting to the market, including reporting in the annual report and accounts, and the Half year results document.
- →Develop finance systems knowledge (including HFM and Workiva) to ensure optimal use of technology to drive insight and analysis.
- →Deliver continuous process/quality improvements – looking to add value by challenging existing practices and designing, developing and implementing changes to ensure reporting is in line with industry best practice and adds value.
- →Support ad-hoc business / reporting related projects as required
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Qualified Accountant (essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex matters to a range of audiences (essential)
- Proficiency in financial systems and strong Excel skills (essential)
- A background in financial services/regulatory/audit environment (highly desirable)
