We are looking for a Windchill PLM Business Functional Designer to join our team and support PLM transformation projects in complex engineering and manufacturing environments. In this role, you will bridge business needs and PTC Windchill solution design by translating requirements into clear, practical, and configuration-ready functional designs.
The role supports Windchill PLM implementation and transformation projects, with a focus on business process discovery, functional design, stakeholder alignment, testing, training, and adoption. You will work closely with client SMEs, architects, developers, SAP/MES/CAD teams, and project leadership to define scalable PLM processes and support successful delivery.
Lead or support business workshops, requirement validation sessions, design playbacks, and stakeholder discussions.
Analyze current PLM, engineering, manufacturing, document management, CAD, BOM, and change management processes.
Define future-state Windchill processes, including roles, access, lifecycles, workflows, object behavior, and business rules.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure functional designs can be configured or developed in a scalable and maintainable way.
Support integration topics across CAD, SAP ERP, MES, quality, supplier, training, and regulatory systems.
Contribute to SIT, UAT, defect clarification, training, adoption, cutover readiness, and hypercare activities.
Requirements
~2 min read5+ years of experience in PLM consulting, business analysis, functional design, engineering transformation, or enterprise application implementation.
Experience with PTC Windchill functional areas such as document management, part management, EBOM, change management, access control, lifecycles, workflows, or CAD integration.
Strong ability to translate business requirements into functional design documents, configuration inputs, process maps, user stories, and test scenarios.
Good understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, including CAD, BOM, change management, compliance, and downstream system impacts.
Functional understanding of SAP ERP, MES, CAD, quality, supplier, training, or regulatory integration touchpoints from a business process and data-flow perspective.
Experience facilitating workshops and working with business stakeholders, technical teams, architects, project managers, and key users.
Ability to work in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Experience with Windchill MPMLink, PartsLink, Options & Variants, ERP Connector, ESI, CAD Workgroup Managers, or regulated document control.
Experience with migration, validation, compliance documentation, UAT coordination, test script preparation, or training/adoption planning.
Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Digital Manufacturing, MES, ALM, ISOTrain, quality management systems, or supplier collaboration processes.
Experience creating business process catalogues, design playbacks, demo scripts, functional risk assessments, or implementation documentation.
Experience in regulated or complex product development environments such as automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, high-tech, medical devices, or manufacturing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Clear and structured communication style.
Ability to simplify complex PLM topics for different audiences.
