  • Design and deliver rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned visual arts instruction that builds artistic skill, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Inspire creativity, confidence, and perseverance through hands-on experiences with a variety of media, techniques, and artistic processes
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages artistic exploration, innovation, collaboration, and self-expression
  • Communicate and maintain high academic, artistic, and personal expectations for all students
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of every student
  • Integrate research-based strategies that strengthen artistic skill development, creative problem-solving, and long-term retention
  • Develop lesson plans aligned to state visual arts standards and grade-level learning outcomes
  • Create long-term curriculum plans and daily instructional plans that address individual student needs and promote continuous artistic growth
  • Make visual arts instruction meaningful, accessible, culturally responsive, and connected to students' lived experiences
  • Integrate technology and digital art tools, when appropriate, to enhance creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and engagement
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment that promotes responsible use of art materials while encouraging creativity and risk-taking
  • Plan and facilitate opportunities for students to showcase their artwork through exhibitions, displays, school events, and community partnerships
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families about student progress, artistic development, classroom activities, and achievements
  • Use student work, assessments, and other data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including the annual one-week staff training, to strengthen your craft
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate the visual arts across content areas and contribute to a positive, student-centered culture

STARTING SALARY

$60,000-$61,500

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement) and certification as appropriate
  • At least a Certificate of Eligibility (QCACS leadership can guide you toward full New Jersey certification)
  • A valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests before employment is offered
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively with parents and students
  • Mastery of subject matter content and a team-player mindset
  • High expectations of students and a solid understanding of child development
