You’ll respond to service calls, assist stranded motorists with services like jump-starts, tire changes, and lockouts, and safely tow vehicles when needed. This role combines hands-on problem solving, customer care, and safe driving, all while working independently on the road. Responsibilities

  • Respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members using a tow truck or service vehicle.  

  • Provide emergency roadside services, including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing and installation, jump starts, lockout assistance, and minor mechanical adjustments. 

  • Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures and towing guidelines.  

  • Verify AAA membership and deliver outstanding customer service during every interaction.  

  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections and report vehicle maintenance concerns.  

  • Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.  

  • Utilize tablets and electronic devices to manage calls, update service requests, and access towing procedures.  

  • Accurately document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts.  

  • Maintain DOT certification and an acceptable driving record.  

  • Achieve goals related to member satisfaction, safety, productivity, and battery services.  

  • Support community and special AAA events as needed. 

Requirements

Required  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • Valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents. 

  • Must successfully pass drug screening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and DOT physical examination. (pre-employment and ongoing). 

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.  

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.  

  • Comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications.  

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.  

  • Ability to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits.  

  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills.  

  • Ability to successfully complete AAA training programs.  

  • Commitment to safety and teamwork. 

  • If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver’s license is required 

 Preferred 

  • Prior experience providing roadside assistance services such as battery testing, jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes.  

  • Previous tow truck driving experience.  

  • Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment.  

  • Commercial driving experience.  

  • Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitude 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.  

This is a highly active, field-based position providing roadside service directly to AAA members. Employees spend up to 95% of their time outdoors and on the road, working in varying weather conditions and around traffic environments. Less than 5% of the role is performed in a traditional office setting. Safety is always the top priority, and team members are provided training and resources to perform their duties successfully.

Compensation 

Hourly rates starting at $24.04 per hour (rate may vary by location and experience).
Overtime opportunities paid at time-and-a-half.
Shift differentials: 5% premium for hours worked between 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM/10% premium for hours worked between 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM
$1,000 Sign-On Bonus, paid in installments at 90 and 180 days of employment. **To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, applicants must be new to ACG. Additional details can be provided by our Recruiting Team at the time of application**

Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrual-based, increases with tenure, eligible at 90 days of employment. Full-time new employees will receive up to 12 PTO days annually; accrual based on start date and may include additional PTO based on role and/or state & local requirements. Part-time employee PTO hours are calculated based upon the standard weekly hours the employee is scheduled to work and will accrue at a minimum of 3 hours per month.
Paid Holidays: Full-time employees are eligible for 10 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day, 2 floating holidays and 1 volunteer day. Holidays vary by business unit schedules. Part-time employees are eligible for 8 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day and 2 floating holidays. Holidays vary by business unit schedules.
