The Senior Actuarial Analyst II provides both advanced and complex risk assessments, sophisticated data analysis and advanced financial forecasting within the actuarial team. Depending on team assignment, develops complex models and manipulates data for pricing and/or reserving products for current and new property/casualty insurance coverage and products. Design, develop and generate essential reports and provide recommendations to leadership.

Depending on team assignment:

  • Analyze data, develop material, and prepare appropriate communications

  • Compile and organize data for actuarial review

  • Prepare reports, proposals, system documents, filing support and documentation files

  • Provide recommendations for improving methods, analysis and data gathering techniques used by the actuarial teams

  • Present project data, results and recommendations to management and senior leaders

  • Provide consultation and clarification regarding complex actuarial and risk assessment models

  • Provide instruction in basic actuarial methods and techniques to junior analysts

  • Formulate and interpret complex mathematical rate making and/or reserving models using available tools

  • Perform ad hoc analyses, including classification, inflation, and tail factor analyses, for current and future products

  • Support state and regulatory filings and respond to inquiries from auditors/DOIs

  • Work with IT and business technical support in gathering and verifying data for rate indications, rate revisions, reserve indications and special projects

  • Research suitable trend indications for analysis, providing material and oral support to recommendations made to management

  • Performs actuarial adjustments to meet the analysis purpose

  • Lead projects and/or assignments as required

  • Coordinate and execute the scheduled rate reviews and indications to ensure rates are adequate, not excessive, or unfairly discriminatory and internally consistent with experience

  • Provide complex level analysis and preparation of competitive product and rate comparison reports

  • Analyze competitor’s rate structures and coverage

  • Develop and prepare competitor rate manual analysis

Required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field

  • Successful completion of five or more actuarial examinations

  • Maintain eligibility in the Actuarial Professional Development Program following department guidelines

Extensive experience in:

Minimum of four years of experience in an actuarial environment to include the following:

  • Pricing or reserving property and casualty insurance products

  • Formulating and interpreting mathematical rate making or reserve models

  • Analyzing technical studies and data and drawing sound conclusions

  • Performing research and statistical analysis to complete assignments

  • PC software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Statistical software tools and/or statistical modeling concepts to develop recommendations and draw conclusions

  • Coordinating and executing projects

  • Preparing reports and exhibits for management review

  • Modeling and complex quantitative analysis resulting in sound recommendations

Experience in three or more of the following

  • Expertly preparing property and casualty rate filings

  • Proficiently preparing property and casualty regulatory filings and statements

  • Preparing advanced competitive product and rate comparison analysis reports

  • Completing intricate actuarial research relating to insurance operations

  • Leading development, implementation, or enhancements to rating plans or reserving methods

  • Performing in-depth analysis methods such as classification, inflation, and tail factor

Preferred

Education:

Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field

Experience:

Experience with Commercial Lines

This position works from a home office location. Depending on the role, some employees may be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or team building events.

Compensation

Sr. Actuarial Analyst II will earn a competitive salary of $86,000 - $130,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance.

Part-time employee PTO hours are calculated based upon the standard weekly hours the employee is scheduled to work and will accrue at a minimum of 3 hours per month
Paid Holidays: Full-time employees are eligible for 10 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day, 2 floating holidays and 1 volunteer day. Holidays vary by business unit schedules. Part-time employees are eligible for 8 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day and 2 floating holidays. Holidays vary by business unit schedules
