Program Manager, Global Membership and Chapter Engagement

Reporting to the Manager, Global Engagement, the Program Manager, Global Membership and Chapter Engagement serves as the primary liaison between ACS headquarters and its International Chemical Sciences Chapters, oversees the program’s strategic growth, and works in collaboration with other departments within the association. The Program manager guides chapter leaders through formation, annual reporting, elections, programming, while also identifying opportunities to deepen member engagement on a global scale.

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, international studies, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in member services, international programming, volunteer management, or a comparable role.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects simultaneously across competing deadlines.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; experience writing for international audiences.
• Proficiency with CRM/membership database systems (e.g., Salesforce, iMIS) and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams).
• Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate international time zones.
• Moderate domestic and international travel required (approximately 20%), including the International Chapter Leadership Summit, ACS National Meetings, and select international symposia.

This role is based in our Washington, DC office. ACS employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work week, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.

A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $90,000 – $100,000 per year.
