JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine (ABEM) • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Shreveport, LA • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 09/15/2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible Schedule PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics • Patient Volume/Census: 41,000 Annual ED Visits • Admissions: As Clinically Indicated • Case Mix: Emergency Medicine FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Medhost • Specialty Backup Available: NICU, PICU, Critical Care, Emergency Services, Women's Health Services PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 Days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rates: TBD • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: TBD REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Standard Emergency Medicine Procedures JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Unrestricted Louisiana Medical License and Louisiana Controlled Substance Registration • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) • DEA: Active DEA with Louisiana Address • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS • Experience: Emergency Medicine Residency Completion Required • Other Qualifications: Must Serve as Supervising Physician for NP and PA Providers • New Emergency Medicine Graduates Accepted • Fellowship Not Required • Telehealth Experience Not Required • Immunization Requirements: Current Flu Vaccination and TB Screening/Chest X-Ray as Applicable • Case Logs Required: Previous 2 Years • CME Documentation Required: Previous 2 Years DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Evaluate, Diagnose, and Treat Emergency Department Patients • Provide Physician Coverage Within a Multi-Provider Emergency Medicine Model • Supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as Required • Document Patient Encounters in Medhost EMR • Collaborate with Hospital Staff and Specialty Services to Coordinate Patient Care
