JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: H-MD-126063 Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Harlingen, Texas Coverage Period: Jul 15, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Various shifts (6a-4p, 10a-8p, 4p-2a, 8p-6a) Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 136 patients per day Case Mix: General emergency medicine cases FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 586 (total facility beds) Trauma Level: Level II EMR System: Cerner Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, OBGYN, Gastroenterology Support Staff Available: NPPA coverage (9a-7p and 4p-2a) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABOEM) Licenses: Active Texas license required; active DEA for the state of application and CSR if needed DEA / CDS: Active DEA and CDS required Certifications: ATLS and PALS required Other Qualifications: IMLC accepted; cross credentialing at multiple facilities DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medical care to patients at a Level II trauma center with high annual volume (49,500 visits). Work rotating physician coverage shifts: 6a-4p, 10a-8p, 4p-2a, 8p-6a, with NPPA support from 9a-7p and 4p-2a. Collaborate with subspecialties including Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, OBGYN, and Gastroenterology. Maintain active Texas medical license, board certification (ABEM/ABOEM), DEA/CDS, and required certifications (ATLS, PALS). Adhere to claims-based malpractice insurance with full tail coverage ($1M/$3M limits) and participate in cross credentialing across multiple Valley Baptist facilities.
