Shipping and Receiving Associate

The Role
The Shipping and Receiving Associate unloads, inspects, and logs inbound shipments, pulls and packages customer orders, and keeps warehouse inventory accurate and organized. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working independently under deadline pressure, and the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies before they become problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload, unpack, inspect, sort, and count inbound shipments; log receipt against purchase orders accurately and on the same day
- Ensure materials are properly located, labeled, and maintained in inventory
- Notify purchasing promptly of any damages, shortages, or overages
- Pull and prepare customer orders for shipment
- Package and label LTL and small-package shipments in compliance with freight carrier rules
- Enter and track shipments using AdeptAg's shipping and inventory systems
- Safely operate a forklift/tow motor to move materials
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly; frequent bending, standing, and walking throughout the shift
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–2 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience preferred
- Forklift certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within the first 30 days
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and stay organized under time pressure
- Self-directed with a 'can do' attitude; comfortable making day-to-day judgment calls
- Basic math and recordkeeping skills
