• Provide geological consultancy and technical assurance across Ad Terra’s OpCos (45-8 Energy, LiCAN Resources,
We’re hiring a Senior Geologist to anchor Ad Terra’s geological consulting and modeling capability from our Kuala Lumpur office. This isn’t a single-asset wellsite posting — it’s a portfolio-level seat spanning Ad Terra’s international multi-resource projects (oil & gas, geothermal, critical elements). You’ll act as technical consultant and modeler across our clients and OpCos, and coordinate geological inputs with the Geophysics, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering teams. It’s one of the most cross-cutting technical seats in the group, with direct visibility into how Ad Terra’s projects are evaluated, modeled, and matured. We’re looking for deep geological judgment built over years in the field, paired with real versatility — someone as curious about where the discipline is heading as they are skilled in how it’s practiced today, ready to help build and adopt the AI-assisted tools that will shape how geology gets done next.
What You'll Do
Consulting & Technical Advisory:
• Provide geological consultancy and technical assurance across Ad Terra’s OpCos (45-8 Energy, LiCAN Resources, SGE) and external client or partner engagements
• Act as technical reference on stratigraphy, structural geology, and reservoir characterization for exploration and development projects
• Support technical due diligence on new assets, farm-ins, and licence opportunities across the portfolio
Geological Modeling:
• Compile, QC, and integrate lithological, petrographic, and biostratigraphic data into static geological models
• Build, maintain, and update structural and stratigraphic models integrating well and seismic data
• Run forecasts and estimate hydrocarbon volumes to support reserves and resources reporting
• Populate and maintain geological databases
AI & Digital Tools:
• Apply and help develop AI/ML-assisted workflows for geological modeling, facies classification, and automated core or log interpretation
• Evaluate and pilot emerging AI tools (e.g., LLM-assisted technical reporting, computer-vision core and image analysis) for adoption across the geoscience team
• Contribute geological domain expertise to Ad Terra's digital subsurface intelligence initiatives
Cross-Discipline Coordination:
• Coordinate geological inputs with the Geophysics, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering teams to keep models and interpretations consistent
• Liaise with JV partners, regulators, and external consultants on geological matters
• Support prospect and play evaluation, ranking exploration targets across the portfolio
Remote Operations Support (desk-based):
• Provide geological look-ahead and formation-top predictions to support live drilling operations, remotely from the KL office
• Review wellsite geology reports (cuttings, cores, mudlogs) submitted by field teams and validate against the pre-drill geological model
• Recommend casing points, coring intervals, and total-depth calls based on remote data review, in coordination with on-site operations teams
• Conduct quality control of geological data and interpretations
Projects:
• Complete tasks in areas of expertise
• Document progress, setbacks, and new processes
• Establish clear and relevant timesheets
Reporting:
• Generate and write reports, create maps, tables, figures, and summaries
• Review documents, studies, models, and reports prepared by peers
• Report results to managers, clients, partners, etc.
What You'll Bring
• University degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field
• Minimum 8–12 years of hands-on Oil & Gas industry experience (exploration, development, or production) — mandatory
• In-depth knowledge of geological principles and practices, namely sequence stratigraphy and application to facies prediction
• Proficient with geological programs such as Petrel, Geolog, Techlog, etc.
• Comfortable working with and developing AI tools (e.g., Python scripting, LLM-based workflows, ML-assisted classification) to support and automate geological interpretation
• Experience with basin modelling and petroleum systems analysis
• Experience providing geological consultancy or technical advisory services, ideally across multiple assets, operators, or clients
• Understanding of PETRONAS project lifecycle stages and JV / PSC operating models
• Familiarity with PETRONAS Technical Standards (PTS) and the Malaysian upstream regulatory framework is an advantage; professional body registration (e.g., relevant geoscience/engineering body) a plus
• Comfortable operating remotely from a base office — providing operational geological support without requiring permanent wellsite presence
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong numerical and literacy skills
• Systematic and methodical approach
• Able to work efficiently under pressure
• Rigor and organization
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Fluent in English (excellent verbal and written proficiency)
What We Offer
• Permanent, full-time local contract with statutory EPF / SOCSO / EIS contributions
• Medical and insurance coverage; competitive annual leave
• Exposure to international multi-resource projects across Ad Terra's platform (Europe, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Asia-Pacific)
Thank you for considering joining our team. We look forward to reviewing your application! To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience
