Performs comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate health status and identify care needs.
Develops and implements individualized patient care plans based on clinical assessments and diagnoses.
Administers medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
Monitors patient progress and modifies care plans as appropriate to optimize outcomes.
Educates patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-care practices.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate and deliver quality patient care.
Documents assessments, interventions, care plans, and patient outcomes accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
Provides oversight, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff to support high-quality care delivery.
Promotes a safe patient care environment by following infection prevention and safety protocols.
Responds effectively to emergency and critical situations using established procedures and clinical judgment.

Skills required to work in critical care area as defined by unit
Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills
Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Organizational skills, ability to prioritize
Mental and emotional stability, demonstrating a courteous and calm approach to all contacts with patients, visitors, and health care team members
Mature judgment and ability to handle confidential information
Personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion, and confidentiality
Ability to work as a team player within a unit
Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills
Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes
Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
Ability to provide leadership, direction, and solve complex problems
Performs accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking, and a professional bedside manner
Knowledgeable in assigned areas of patient care including health promotion and maintenance
EKG knowledge (based on patient population; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements)
Previous experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record [Preferred]
Previous EKG Interpretation Class [Preferred]
