Serves as a liaison between the insurance company, the patient, and the physician. Accurately communicates insurance benefits and requirements to patients. Responds to non-clinical questions for patients and routes all other calls correctly. Schedules office appointments and surgeries appropriately. Prepares patient charts prior to visits. Updates patient status in the electronic tracking program. Contacts the insurance company to obtain referral numbers or pre-certification/authorization as needed. Files referrals, authorizations, and clearances appropriately. Maintains timely responsiveness to patient inquiries, questions, and concerns. Obtains and compiles necessary medical records from specialists or hospitals to process referrals and/or authorizations. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must be willing to float to other FPMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules, etc. make it necessary. [Required]
• Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]
• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology [Preferred]

Education:
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:
• graduate or equivalent

Work Experience:
• Experience with computers [Required]
