* Conduct comprehensive assessments to gather data on patients' physical, emotional, and social health status. * Develop and implement individualized care plans with specific goals and interventions based on assessment data. * Administer medications and treatments accurately as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols. * Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary and documenting progress. * Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to empower them in managing their health. * Facilitate effective hand-off communication by clearly and concisely transferring patient information during shift changes or transitions between departments. * Collaborate with healthcare professionals through regular communication and teamwork to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care. * Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, treatments, changes in condition, and care plans. * Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, pursuing relevant certifications, and reflecting on practice to maintain clinical competencies and improve patient care. * Oversee daily operations and patient care, ensuring compliance with policies, managing staffing needs, providing leadership, and addressing issues. * Perform point of care testing to provide immediate diagnostic results, enabling timely decision-making and treatment adjustments. * Participate in performance improvement projects by identifying areas for enhancement, implementing changes, and evaluating results to improve patient care quality and outcomes.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills [Required]
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures [Required]
• Ability to work as a team player within a unit [Required]
• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills [Required]
• Peri-operative or post-operative care of cardiothoracic patients [Required]
• Management of mechanical circulatory devices [Required]
• Ability to care for complex cardiothoracic surgical and advanced heart and lung disease patients [Required]
• EKG (based on patient population; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements) [Required]
• Department specific advanced competencies [Required]
• Ability to scrub cardiothoracic procedures [Preferred]

Education:
• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Field of Study:
• N/A

Work Experience:
• 1+ experience in cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or cardiac icu setting or cardiovascular operating room experience [Preferred]
• CVICU experience [Preferred]
• CVOR experience [Preferred]

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]
• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
