The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients as medically prescribed, in a professional manner and within hospital standards, adhering to the corporate compliance plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the care provided by therapy aides in accordance with established regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and re-evaluations using evidence-based assessment techniques and clinical best practices.

  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, clinical progress, and functional outcomes.

  • Provide skilled therapeutic interventions that promote patient safety, functional independence, and optimal rehabilitation outcomes.

  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate to maximize therapeutic benefit.

  • Discharge patients when treatment goals have been achieved or in accordance with clinical practice standards and payer guidelines.

  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, patient progress, and discharge summaries accurately, objectively, and within established timeframes.

  • Complete accurate and timely patient charging in accordance with CPT coding standards and insurance requirements.

  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, home exercise programs, safety recommendations, and strategies to support continued progress.

  • Utilize knowledge of growth, development, and age-specific needs to provide individualized, patient-centered care across the lifespan.

  • Maintain departmental productivity standards through effective time management, clinical efficiency, and flexibility in meeting patient care needs.

  • Adjust work schedules and provide support across departments or clinical locations based on patient census and operational needs.

  • Apply evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and continuous professional development to support high-quality patient care.

  • Serve as a clinical instructor and mentor, supporting the education and development of students and team members as assigned.

  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement activities, and organizational safety programs.

  • Support community outreach and consumer education through participation in educational events, presentations, and community engagement activities.

  • Maintain compliance with patient safety, employee safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

  • PRN

  • Various weekday and weekend shifts available.

  • Must work a minimum of two (2) weekend shifts per month.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in conversational English.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic formats.

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license. /OR 

  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist – Provisional (SLP-PROV) license. / OR

  • Current Speech-Language Pathologist – Temporary (SLP-TEMP) license.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
