Coordinates all programs related to the transportation department. Manages employees and staff in the defined area appropriately. Understands and implements the regulatory requirements of the transportation program. Monitors the effectiveness of programs deployed. Researches the viability of new technology for Patient Transport. Takes charge and responds appropriately to unexpected situations, using correct tone of voice, stance, and non-defensive/offensive language. Maintains positive relationships by appropriately communicating information, evident by no more than one complaint in six months intra-departmentally. Promotes and contributes positively to inter-departmental relationships with no more than two complaints in a six-month period. Regularly meets with customers about customer service, such as through surveys. Articulates and shares comprehensive knowledge of general and specialized Transportation/Dispatch Services practices. Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to understand customers’ needs and respond to them in a pro-active, courteous, professional, and efficient manner [Required]
  • Ability to read, write, and speak appropriately in English using good diction, and ability to respond to people’s needs in a pleasant and courteous way as perceived by the customer [Required]
  • Knowledge of the patient transport and dispatch services processes [Required]
  • Knowledge of computerized configurations necessary for a stable working environment [Required]
  • Ability to data input information in a timely manner [Preferred]
  • Leadership skills, accepts responsibility, exercises authority and functions independently using effective written and verbal communications [Preferred]
  • Ability to work well with others, using tact and diplomacy [Preferred]
  • Accepts direction and responds to ever changing matrix of hospital needs [Preferred]
  • Discretion when discussing confidential employee related issues [Preferred]
  • Ability to set proprieties for the numerous Transportation and Dispatch Services activities of all patients, from infant to geriatric age [Preferred]
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patient and departmental information with no infractions [Preferred]
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, etc.) [Preferred]
  • Ability to manage relationships with vendors and contracts [Preferred]
  • Ability to develop strategies to improve the department’s financial performance (i.e. cost, productivity, etc.) [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of generating and manipulating Transportation related reports for tracking software [Preferred]
  • Bachelor's [Preferred]
  • in Business, Public Administration, Information Systems, with current experience in medical field
  • 3+ years of experience in a lead, leadership, supervisor or related role with customer service experience; preferably in a hospital setting [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
