The Divisional Revenue Cycle Officer (“RCO”) functions as a Vice President level executive and reports to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Revenue Cycle to provide executive leadership to the Multi-state Division of Advent Health. This role functions with a dotted-line matrix relationship to the divisional CFO, in order to influence Revenue Cycle leading practices and financial performance across the division]. This individual will drive the execution of Advent Health’s strategic Revenue Cycle planning and maintain functional direction for key departments which make up the revenue cycle space within the front, middle to back-end of the Revenue Cycle, and support acute hospital operations and ambulatory and physician enterprise. The Divisional RCO will liaise between the regional and divisional CFOs, the corporate Revenue Cycle leadership team, and other key stakeholders, with the primary goal of aligning each team within the division with Advent Health’s mission, enterprise expectations, and ongoing optimization strategies to obtain timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered. This individual demonstrates leadership experience in a large, matrix organization, and a demonstrates measurable Revenue Cycle improvement results and managing transformational changes. This role is responsible for implementing change, creating, and executing on strategies by maintaining relationships with many internal stakeholders and external business partners that support various aspects of the revenue cycle. Additionally, the ability to have a clear and direct communication style, reconcile competing priorities, and think strategically are keys to the role in the leader’s ability to look beyond industry norms and continue to create strategy which will drive the best outcome in the revenue cycle healthcare within the context of the Corporate Revenue Cycle operating model, standard systems utilized, and company-wide policies.
General duties:
- Responsible for liaising between divisional and system Revenue Cycle/ Finance leadership in ensuring the alignment of operational standards and priorities with the broader enterprise strategic objectives and goals, among the Physician Enterprise, Consumer Access and CxC, Middle Revenue Cycle, and Centralized Business Office (CBO) teams
- Responsible for the collaboration and promotion of a long-term revenue cycle vision that is optimized and modified each year within the corporate Revenue Cycle operating model during the annual planning and budgeting cycles.
- Informed of the division’s strategic plans and collaborates with the corporate revenue cycle leadership to ensure the revenue cycle is well-positioned to serve and accommodate those plans, escalating when appropriate to ensure processes that can support the division’s overall business strategies yet maintain consistency in operations across the revenue cycle enterprise.
- Remains focused on consumer experience and develops key strategies which reduces the complexity of billing dispute, scheduling, pre-service self-service interactions, and any other aspect of the revenue cycle that directly impacts the consumer.
- Responsible for providing key Revenue Cycle updates to Division leaders, including performance trends, project updates, and policy changes.
- Proactively identifies operational risks, issues, and improvement opportunities, and escalates key issues and decisions to Revenue Cycle leadership on a timely basis
- Influences change in a matrix-management environment to achieve regional-, divisional-, and system-wide Revenue Cycle goals, and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including (but not limited to) Divisional and Regional CFOs, VP of Revenue Cycle Consumer Access, VP of Middle Revenue Cycle, VP of CBO, Director of Revenue Cycle Physician Enterprise, Executive Director of Performance Improvement and Business Support, and regional leadership
- Revenue Cycle market innovations to recommend alignment with leading Revenue Cycle practices in coordination with the Corporate Revenue Cycle operating model and Epic foundation strategies.
- Develops and maintains relationships beyond Finance/ Revenue Cycle corporate functional areas to include finance, clinical teams, managed care teams, and industry peers
- Partners with the Executive Director of Process Improvement and Business Support to optimize the operations of Revenue Cycle support functions (e.g. Automation, Analytics, Vendor Management), to optimize the operational processes
- Shares best practices and lessons learned with other Divisional Revenue Cycle Officers to ensure enterprise alignment
- Facilitates deployment of corporate standard practices, technology, and policies in accordance with ongoing AdventHealth transformation strategies and operational best practices
- Actively participates in Corporate Governance structure including membership of the Corporate Revenue Cycle Cabinet, other Corporate Revenue Cycle governance meetings, and serves as the Chair for Divisional Revenue Cycle Council; socializing key updates and insights with the appropriate stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Revenue Cycle
Ongoing performance management oversight:
- Responsible for monitoring the KPI performance of the front, middle, and back-end functional areas, as well as the physician enterprise within the division to enable early detection of operational risks, issues, and improvement opportunities. Responsible for ensuring these performance improvement plans, and corrective actions are completed by executive stakeholders.
- Disseminates and analyzes information to create strategies and provide feedback to AdventHealth corporate revenue cycle leadership and department counterparts regarding their involvement and impact on revenue cycle, including any impact on processes facilitating reimbursement for services rendered.
- Reinforces training / process improvement standards set forth by the system Revenue Cycle leadership team, within the Division
- Communicates with Revenue Cycle liaisons, divisional Revenue Cycle leaders, and regional / divisional CFOs within the division regularly to understand local challenges, opportunities, and priorities
- Collaborates with the Executive Director of Process Improvement and Business Support and corporate Revenue Cycle VPs to ensure divisional Revenue Cycle leaders have the tools and support required to manage ongoing operations
- Escalates facility- or region-specific key issues and decisions from the division, and suggests operational changes to the front, middle, back-end as well as Physician Enterprise Revenue Cycle leadership that is in alignment with Advent Health broader revenue cycle objectives
Project execution / change management related responsibilities:
- Represents division-specific optimization opportunities and business needs in the planning and implementation process of corporate-led projects, and drives local adoption of corporate strategies
- Provides inputs on the future state design of workflow changes and configuration changes to Revenue Cycle systems and tools, to ensure system standards and workflows can support local needs of the Division
- Assists with evaluating the qualitative and quantitative impact of corporate-led Revenue Cycle initiatives for the division; represents facility, region, or division specific operational needs and priorities in the decision-making process at the corporate level, related to Revenue Cycle operations
- Develops change management and communication strategy for the deployment of Revenue Cycle strategic initiatives and performance improvement tactics within the division
- Supports the regional and divisional leadership across all functional areas of the Revenue Cycle within the division to execute strategic initiatives and performance improvement projects to meet KPI targets
- Facilitates the prioritization and sequencing of division-led and corporate-led initiatives when allocating resources to ensure both local and corporate priorities are met on a timely basis

- Working knowledge of analytic tools such as Qlikview, PowerBI, or other similar tools [Preferred]
- Robotic Processing Automation working knowledge and skills [Preferred]
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field [Required]
- Minimum eight or more (8+) years progressive experience leading Hospital finance or Revenue Cycle in a hospital and / or physician environment [Preferred]
- Background in finance [Preferred]
- Background in change management and project management [Preferred]
- Develops, communicates, and enforces corporate policies and procedures consistent with organization and governmental standards of compliance
- Develops and maintains liaisons with local, state, and federal resources along with professional organizations
- Provides leadership for corporate committees and assigned task forces
- Manages ongoing quality improvement programs to assure a single standard of procedure, system-wide
- Promotes the mission of AdventHealth in all interactions
- Member of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) or other similar Healthcare finance or Revenue Cycle industry professional association [Required]
- Revenue Cycle certifications preferred, such as the Certification in Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) [Required]
- Certification in Healthcare Financial Management Association areas [Preferred]
- Project Management skills and / or certifications [Preferred]
- Epic EMR certifications in related areas [Preferred]
