Avandra is poised to revolutionize healthcare research and innovation by creating the largest indexed data cloud of medical imaging. This platform will unlock unprecedented access to real-world imaging data, essential for biopharma research, medical device innovation, AI model training, and improved patient care. 

Leveraging its strategic acquisitions, Avandra aims to aggregate and de-identify vast amounts of imaging data, providing frictionless access to this invaluable resource. With a national footprint of over 5,000 customer integrations and a market share of approximately 70%, this robust infrastructure supports their core business, ensuring continued growth and cash flow to fuel their innovative data cloud platform.

As a Principal Software Engineer at Avandra Imaging, you’ll serve as a hands-on technical leader, collaborating across Engineering, Product, and other areas of the business to shape and deliver systems that are secure, scalable, and high-impact. You’ll be trusted to drive architectural direction, mentor other engineers, and set quality standards across the stack.

• →Architect and lead the development of critical systems, services, and infrastructure — with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and maintainability. 
• →Partner with product and program leaders to ensure engineering solutions align with user needs, regulatory requirements, and business outcomes. 
• →Set and evolve technical standards across the organization. Proactively address tech debt, guide code review quality, and drive initiatives that improve team velocity and code quality. 
• →Coach and mentor engineers across teams — helping them grow their craft, navigate ambiguity, and develop in their careers. 
• →Investigate and evaluate new technologies to drive innovation, simplify complexity, and support scale. 
• →Contribute directly to codebases, especially for architectural foundations, prototypes, and complex or high-risk areas. 
• →Serve as a multiplier, identifying gaps, facilitating collaboration, and unblocking teams without taking over. 
• →Uphold and strengthen our engineering culture, with a commitment to curiosity, learning, integrity, and positive team dynamics. 
• →Help recruit and onboard exceptional talent, contributing to a team that reflects our values and mission. 

• 12+ years of experience as an engineer across multiple tech stacks, with deep experience building and scaling distributed systems. 
• Proven ability to operate as a technical leader — setting direction, influencing others, and delivering results without formal authority. 
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and infrastructure as code. 
• Experience with cloud-native systems (preferably AWS), including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) 
• Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases,  
• Demonstrated success in a highly regulated environment, preferably healthcare, with an understanding of compliance and data protection (e.g., HIPAA). 
• Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator, comfortable representing engineering in executive conversations and product strategy. 
• Passion for teaching, mentoring, and cultivating a high-trust, high-autonomy team environment.
