Industrial Hygiene Lab Microbiologist

• Responsible for microbiological analysis in Industrial hygiene laboratory • Co-ordinates and conduct food sampling and analysis from Total locations and interpret data to user department • Participate in HSE committee meetings, industrial hygiene awareness seminars/trainings and enlightenment programmes • Participate in HSE MS audits • Conduct IH Risks Assessment (develop and review Risks Assessment Files) on assigned sites • Conduct sampling and laboratory analysis on potable and recreational water samples from PHC, Lagos, Abuja, OML 100, OML 102, OML 99, OML 58, AKPO and NOPL. • Conduct Radioactive source premobilization inspection in contractor facilities, prepare and send report. • Conduct foods incidents evaluation, prepare and make recommendations to prevent re-occurrence. • Conduct hygiene inspections on third party contractors’ facilities, barges and vessels • Conduct hygiene inspections in Covid-19 quarantine centers • Participate in monthly kitchen/canteen hygiene inspection for PHC main base, Total Village canteen and Ogoja staff club. • Conduct laboratory analysis for Legionella on request from sites • Participate in conduct of water treatment plants audits • Conduct indoor/outdoor air quality monitoring on microbial load • Conduct ergonomics evaluation of workstations • Participates in Identification and evaluation of industrial hygiene hazards in all company locations • Provides hazard information/toxicological information on analyzed samples, products, waste, emissions, hazardous chemicals etc • Conducts periodic trend analysis of results from laboratory investigation. • Prepare training slides and conduct IH trainings for Total personnel at the TUCN training center. • Conduct IH and lab specific trainings for Interns and Industrial Trainees • Receive and demonstrate best laboratory practices for trainees from Total training centre Context & Environment As part of a transverse service, in a team, under the responsibility of a Head, the Industrial Hygiene microbiologist is mainly responsible for: - • The role of this position in water quality checks and food safety analysis have clearly prevented food and water borne diseases in all Total facilities and increased the level of awareness in best hygiene practices • The activities of this position in health risks assessment, audits, inspections, studies and monitoring have greatly reduced and prevented occupational illnesses. • Liaise with the TEPNG Medical Unit on occupational health issues of concern HSE Content • Demonstrate personal commitment to the HSEQ Policy • Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and company HSEQ standards • Actively participate in Company HSEQ awareness and initiative scheme • Carry out awareness training in line with IH functional aspect Accountabilities • Laboratory analysis (including reporting and recommendations), field operations in sampling, audits, inspections, studies and monitoring in onshore and offshore locations. Trainings and seminars in TUCN training center, offshore locations and in the offices. • Onshore and Offshore site visits/work activities when applicable. Requirements • B. Sc. in Microbiology with M.Sc. as added advantage. • Three years post qualification experience in similar job • Good oral and written communication skills • A good team player • Good coordination amid multiple tasks competing for attention
