The Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is looking for an Professional Development Coordinator. This part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week) is located in Arlington, VA. The incumbent is required to come to AFP headquarters located in Arlington, Virginia two days/week – Tuesday and Wednesday.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Professional Development, the Professional Development Coordinator helps coordinate and support initiatives to create, implement, maintain, and continuously improve AFP professional development programs, products, and services (“Programs”) that meet the needs of AFP members and the fundraising profession, as well as generate revenue for AFP. This position works closely with fellow team members within the AFP Professional Development department, as well as other AFP staff, contractors, and volunteers.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Professional Development, the Professional Development Coordinator helps coordinate and support initiatives to create, implement, maintain, and continuously improve AFP professional development programs, products, and services (“Programs”) that meet the needs of AFP members and the fundraising profession, as well as generate revenue for AFP. This position works closely with fellow team members within the AFP Professional Development department, as well as other AFP staff, contractors, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Supports AFP’s course licensing program, which allows AFP chapters and non-profit organizations to host AFP education courses for the benefit of their constituents and generates non-dues revenue for AFP.
- Supports AFP’s digital programs like webinars, virtual workshops, e-courses, conference recordings, virtual conferences and microlearning videos.
- Helps coordinate and support project teams within the Professional Development department, especially as related to professional development, but also other programs as needed.
- Provides staff support relevant AFP volunteer committees, e.g., ICON Education Advisory Committee, LEAD Education Advisory Committee. Helps coordinate meetings. Ensures timely communications, compiles meeting agendas, records and distributes minutes as required.
- Supports other professional development programs as assigned. Provides general administrative support including submission of education programs/sessions for CFRE credit; processing of payments and invoices; supporting volunteer committees and taking meeting minutes; and providing front-line customer service and basic technical support as needed.
- Helps with vendor research and Request for Information/Request for Proposals processes for new vendors and service providers.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Strong experience with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other office productivity tools.
- Familiarity with digital media, Internet and tech platforms in general, HTML, CSS.
- Self-motivated go-getter who is proactive and solutions oriented.
- Knowledge of trends in education and training, paid content, marketing, and social media.
- Knowledge of non-profits and the fundraising profession preferred.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-departmental project teams.
- Excellent written and oral communications with strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and juggle competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexible attitude with an ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively, and resourcefully with a variety of stakeholders and small teams to maximize creativity and results.
- 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Experience with professional development activities preferred.
- Experience with paid content, especially related to professional development, research, and publications, is preferred.
- Some experience with display advertising and sponsorships also preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience.
$25 per hour
