Agilent Technologies is seeking a strategic, customer-focused, and results-driven Market Development Manager, Biopharma to accelerate growth across one of the world's fastest-growing biopharmaceutical markets.
India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for biosimilars, biologics, CDMOs, advanced therapeutics, and pharmaceutical innovation. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence industry direction, shape market strategy, build strategic partnerships, and drive business transformation initiatives that create long-term competitive advantage.
This position sits at the intersection of science, business, and strategy, working closely with customers, industry leaders, academia, government agencies, and cross-functional Agilent teams to identify growth opportunities, execute strategic initiatives, and accelerate market adoption of Agilent's solutions.
This is a single contributor role with significant cross-functional influence and accountability for driving outcomes through strong stakeholder engagement, project leadership, and execution discipline.
- Identify emerging opportunities across biologics, biosimilars, peptides, oligonucleotides, ADCs, cell and gene therapy, and other advanced therapeutic modalities.
- Develop and execute market development strategies that accelerate revenue growth and expand Agilent's presence across India's biopharma ecosystem.
- Conduct continuous market intelligence gathering, including customer feedback, competitive assessments, market trends, regulatory developments, investment activities, and emerging technologies.
- Develop robust market monitoring processes, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that enable data-driven decision making.
- Translate market insights into actionable growth initiatives, investment recommendations, and commercial strategies.
- Serve as the voice of the market by identifying unmet customer needs and emerging opportunities before competitors.
- Establish and manage strategic collaborations with leading biopharma companies, CDMOs, CROs, research institutions, universities, industry associations, government agencies, and innovation ecosystems.
- Lead collaboration projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment of objectives, stakeholders, timelines, resources, and expected outcomes.
- Develop collaboration roadmaps and governance structures to maximize business impact.
- Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), scientific leaders, and senior industry decision-makers.
- Convert strategic collaborations into scalable commercial opportunities, customer references, workflow adoption programs, and long-term partnerships.
- Lead strategic business transformation initiatives that improve customer engagement, organizational effectiveness, and growth.
- Evaluate and recommend innovative Go-to-Market (GTM) models that improve customer coverage, workflow adoption, market penetration, and business performance.
- Develop channel strategies, customer segmentation frameworks, territory coverage models, and resource allocation recommendations to maximize growth opportunities.
- Build data-driven investment cases and business proposals that support new growth opportunities, organizational changes, and capability development.
- Partner with leadership teams to design and implement transformative initiatives such as dedicated biopharma channels, workflow-led selling models, partnership ecosystems, and new commercial structures.
- Shape future business strategies by identifying structural gaps and recommending scalable solutions that enhance customer experience and commercial effectiveness.
This role requires exceptional execution capability and project leadership.
- Establish clear project objectives, KPIs, milestones, governance mechanisms, and success metrics for strategic initiatives.
- Own project tracking and performance monitoring to ensure initiatives remain on schedule and deliver intended outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across commercial, marketing, applications, business units, and leadership teams.
- Proactively identify risks, remove obstacles, escalate issues when necessary, and maintain momentum across complex initiatives.
- Hold stakeholders accountable and ensure commitments are translated into action.
- Develop executive updates and progress reviews to provide visibility into project performance and business impact.
- Foster a culture of execution excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support strategic account planning and opportunity development across key biopharma customers.
- Partner with sales, applications, and marketing teams to accelerate pipeline growth and market adoption.
- Provide market expertise and workflow insights to strengthen customer engagement strategies.
- Champion a One Agilent approach across strategic customer accounts and growth initiatives.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in biopharma, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare technology, business development, market development, strategic marketing, consulting, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of India's biopharma ecosystem, including biologics, biosimilars, CDMOs, CROs, and emerging therapeutic modalities.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- MBA, Master's degree, or PhD.
- Experience leading strategic partnerships, ecosystem development programs, or collaboration projects.
- Experience developing GTM strategies, channel strategies, customer coverage models, or commercial transformation initiatives.
- Strong project management and business case development expertise.
- Demonstrated track record of turning strategic initiatives into measurable business outcomes.
