~1 min readThe Consumer Insights Researcher is a full-time, salaried role reporting to the Consumer Insights Manager. The position supports data-driven decision making at Cabot Creamery by conducting consumer research and analyzing market, shopper, and consumer data to understand behaviors, preferences, and emerging trends. You will collect, synthesize, and communicate insights that help identify consumer needs, evaluate innovation opportunities, and strengthen brand performance. You will also leverage syndicated and panel data sources to monitor business performance, identify growth opportunities, and support segmentation efforts. This role partners closely with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and external research partners, requiring a strong collaboration, curiosity, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Reports to: Consumer Insights Manger
Salary range: $58-70k
This position requires three in-person days per week in our Waitsfield, VT office – Tuesdays through Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays, employees are welcome to work remotely.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop, program, and analyze qualitative and quantitative studies (e.g. surveys, focus groups, concept tests, and other ad hoc research initiatives) to understand consumer attitudes, motivations, and behaviors
- →Analyze syndicated, panel, and retail point-of-sale data, to identify market trends, evaluate competitive performance, and support innovation efforts
- →Transform data and research findings into clear, compelling, and actionable recommendations that address key business questions and inform strategic decision making
- →Partner with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and external research vendors to identify business needs, develop research approaches, and deliver timely insights
- →Utilize emerging AI tools responsibly and appropriately to enhance research efficiency, while maintaining analytical rigor and data integrity, and adhering to company policies
- Experience in consumer insights, survey research, market research, or related field
- Experience designing and programming surveys using platforms such as Qualtrics or similar research tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quantitative data. Experience applying statistical techniques, such as significance testing and regression, is preferred. Experience with qualitative data analysis is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint are required
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives with actionable recommendations
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Curiosity and a passion for understanding consumer behavior. Successful candidates enjoy asking questions, exploring data, and uncovering meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross functional teams
Nice to Have
~2 min read- Experience working with syndicated data sources, shopper panel, or retail point-of-sale data, such as Circana, Nielsen, Scintilla, or Numerator
- Experience conducting concept testing, product development research, or brand health tracking studies
- Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG), food and beverage, dairy, or related industries
- Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, R, or similar platforms
- Understanding of consumer behavior, segmentation, and shopper behavior frameworks
