Senior Underwriter - Financial Lines (Sweden)
Quick Summary
One Nordic: You join a fully integrated Nordic unit. While your focus is the Swedish market, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
Are you a Financial Lines professional ready to take ownership of some of the most complex risks in the Nordic market?
AIG is looking for a Senior Underwriter to drive our Management Liability Commercial (MLC) portfolio in Sweden. Based in Stockholm, you will handle high-stakes products like Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O), Crime, and Employment Practices Liability (EPL), while acting as a strategic anchor in our Nordic operations.
At AIG, you get the best of both worlds: the agile autonomy to shape your local portfolio in Sweden, combined with the strategic backing of a global insurance leader. We invest in our senior talent and provide the framework for you to execute. Here is what you can expect:
- One Nordic: You join a fully integrated Nordic unit. While your focus is the Swedish market, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
- Learn-It-All Culture: Even as a senior specialist, we prioritize continuous professional development, knowledge sharing, and challenging the status quo.
- Swedish Benefits: 30 days of annual vacation, occupational pension, private health insurance, and a wellness allowance.
- Flexibility: A hybrid working model ensuring you can balance high performance with your personal priorities.
Responsibilities
~1 min readYour primary focus is to drive profitable growth and manage strategic broker relationships within the Swedish market. Your key responsibilities include:
- →Strategic Underwriting: Assessing risks, structuring complex programs, and pricing policies within D&O, Crime, and EPL for major organizations.
- →Portfolio Ownership: Ensuring the profitability and growth of your assigned book of business through rigorous data analysis and proactive renewal management.
- →Broker Partnerships: Acting as a trusted commercial partner and decision-maker for our Swedish brokers, delivering solutions that meet client needs.
- →Mentorship: Guiding and supporting junior colleagues in the team, elevating the overall technical capabilities of the unit.
- →Product Development: Contributing to the broader Nordic strategy by identifying market trends and helping to tailor products to local client needs.
This role is for an established insurance professional who is ready to take a leading commercial role in the market. While prior underwriting experience is an advantage, it is not a strict requirement.
- You have several years of experience working with Financial Lines products (for instance, from a background in Claims, Broking, complex UW Operations, or as an Underwriter with the professional ballast to make a senior transition).
- A deep technical understanding of Management Liability products.
- You see yourself as being a strategic thinker who navigates complex stakeholder landscapes and enjoys driving commercial relationships.
- An analytical mindset, capable of translating complex financial and legal data into actionable decisions.
- Fluency in Swedish and English (written and spoken).
You will be based in our centrally located Stockholm office, reporting to the Financial Lines Manager for Finland & Sweden. You will join a highly specialized Nordic Financial Lines team. We believe that we win as a team, operating with flat hierarchies and freedom with responsibility.
We value your experience over a lengthy cover letter. Please send your CV along with a brief summary of your motivation and fit for the role.
As the holiday season is upon us, please note that we will begin reviewing applications and reaching out to candidates in the first half of August. We encourage you to apply over the summer so we can connect as soon as everyone is back. We welcome applications in Scandinavian or English.
