Assembly Technician

Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of components, sub-assemblies, and full structure integrations across AIM's hardware programs — from small electrical sub-assemblies through PCB integration to final unit build-up and functional test.

  Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of components, sub-assemblies, and final structure integrations per engineering drawings and work instructions.

  Assemble PCB assemblies into product enclosures; install wire harnessing, cables, and components.

  Install fasteners, brackets, and hardware to specified torque values; verify structural mounting and alignment.

  Use precision hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and calibrated measuring instruments for assembly and inspection.

  Set up and conduct functional testing of built hardware — instrumentation setup, test execution, data capture, and teardown.

  Read and interpret layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists.

  Identify and troubleshoot assembly defects; perform rework and re-assembly to correct non-conformances.

  Support development of prototype test capabilities for manufactured components and life tests.

  Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area; follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 1+ years of hands-on assembly or mechanical/electrical work experience.

• Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

• 2+ years hands-on experience in electro-mechanical, precision, or high-volume manufacturing.

• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 acceptance standards for electronic assemblies.

• Experience with electrical wiring and basic wire harness installation.

• Experience setting up and running functional tests or experiments.

• Associate degree in a technical field.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, low-volume/high-mix production environment with shifting priorities.

• Ability to work at a bench or on a vehicle/structure for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and maneuver components with hand trucks or pallet jacks as needed.

• Good vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed assembly work.

1. Mechanical and electrical assembly to drawing/spec, including fastener installation to torque values and structural fit-up/alignment.

2. Reading and working directly from assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions without hand-holding.

3. Setting up and running functional tests — instrumentation, execution, data capture — and interpreting pass/fail results.

4. Diagnosing and correcting an assembly defect (not just reporting it) — rework, re-fit, re-assembly.

1. Comfort with ambiguity — AIM's build documentation and BOMs change week to week as programs go through revisions; the technician has to build correctly today and adapt tomorrow without a finished, static work instruction.

2. Safety-first mindset — works around powered tools, heavy structures, and electrical systems; stops and flags rather than pushing through an unsafe condition to hit a deadline.

3. Ownership of outcomes — treats an assembly with their name on it as their responsibility through test, not just through build.

4. Low-volume/high-mix tolerance — comfortable switching between assembly types and revisions within a shift rather than expecting long, repetitive runs.

Compensation - $40,000-$75,000 base salary
